Sorry , more blog like post as theres nothing to fix -well on this one anyway

Drive it day .

As the Vuskys clutch slave is iffy I had to use the Singer .
Did 69 miles to Wookey hole , across the top via Preddy and down to Cheddar , went home via the Somerset levels ( Wedmore )
Singer ran utterly superbly - in fact possibly the best its ever been in 34 years of ownership .
Coolant temp 74˚C constant - heater off as it was a warm day .
Oil temp varied between between 68˚C and 72˚C .
FANTASTIC day out 🙂

It's great to see that you and Annie get out and about and enjoy your Singer, Dave. :) :) It's also rather nice to see your car and your words in print.

Keep the updates coming, my dear friend! 8)

Sorted out the Singers radio mount .
I thought on the factory car the glovebox lid screws were captive - WRONG 😯
bl***y are now though - redone the radio mounting set up , all now done using rivnuts - even on the straps .
So both cars now sorted on this front and fully rivnutted , Vuskys is poverty spec , Singers has a posh radio surround and colour coded straps 🤣 .

Got to love the rivnuts Dave, so useful for a variety of applications.
Nice hiding the radio in the glovebox to keep prying eyes from knowing what's in the car.

I've seen where they can put modern radio internals into an original period casing now specifically for older cars so it still looks correct on the face of it.

Remade the oil pressure gauge union and altered the oil temp sender mount , brazed together this time rather than solder , sender holder is slimmer for better heat transfer .

Pratting about again , this time a rear load area light for the Singer.
It comes on when you open the hatch however as i wanted a permanent off position so it never comes on I modded the Imps interior light so the switch turns it off not on .
This is so its not on in daylight plus i can still use my window prop without the light being on the whole time .
It all works really well .
Used an old door switch for the hatch switch :)

No, I’m here as well as I often am, but didn’t feel the need to make a comment. However, being as I am actually replying, well done Dave on yet another clever addition to your car. Mine on the other hand is a bare and barren place, being almost completely standard, but that’s how I like it! I have loved following your posts, so keep them coming if you can find or think of anything else you want to do - or have room to do it!

More than one of us on here Dave..

Great idea on the rear hatch light for the midnight shop to Asda to see where the shopping can be stored in the back. :D
Possibly fit a beeper in case you have left it open by mistake, doors, bonnet and engine hatch could also have beepers..
You may have thought of those already though..

So either im a short arse , my seats are saggy or I just like sitting high when driving ( Ironic as ive lowered the car )
Anyway I wanted the rear of the seat higher to account for the seats very soft ( and comfy ) base.
Cue lots of lateral thinking , had to be reversible , bolt on ideally , had to be safe , strong enough to hold the weight and look at least half decent .
Eventually I came up with these --- handlebar hight adjuster for motorbikes , had to chamfer just the top clamp and just for safetys sake in case they loosen off a centre bolt which locks into the inner indent on the seat .
They " might " be a tad high but i want to try it first , easy to solve - just machine a few MM off the base

As it is I sink into the seat base , they are very springy so my arse vanishes The lean back has always been too much on the base , they do recline though so thats adjustable :)

How many Nod's Mods does this car now have. That is another great idea and cheap fix, wonder if the load on floor will be different with the riser's round part compared to the curve of the seat base ?

It is , although ive been called other things
Used it for work today - As predicted its slightly too high so i machined 10mm off the base with the lathe , Its now perfect for me - total of 30mm rise , my seats sagged terribly over the decades so i added extra springs wrenched from a scrapped Honda in 2010 , been fine since in the fact of no extra sagging :)

Well my strange abstract bonce with the added hole has reached a whole new level of upcycling bodgery
Yesterday morning I was chucking out a load of rubbish - including Imp bits .
One part that went in the bin ( initially anyway ) was an early AC oil filler cap - the one with the vent and filter , it had a large dent in the top so seems little point in keeping it.
I carried on hoofing stuff out which included a stainless soup ladle with a busted handle.
For some strange reason this abstract bonce of mine got thinking about the dented oil cap and busted ladle .
Anyway to cut a long story short ( before you all doze off ) i cut the oil filter cap up , cut the ladle up , brazed the two together and came up with this.
Shiny newness and a total one off

Two things come to mind here, one is the squirrel instinct that we all have to a certain extent, but you must have in spades, to keep stuff like that and the second is the cleverness of matching the two bits of rubbish and producing such a brilliant outcome. Love it!

Really NICE mod to my cover cap there Dave . Totally UNIQUE
Don't get involved in the CNC machines at our place so best l can offer to Chamois owners is this

Other badged caps will be available , or plain, just like Dave had off me .

He did butcher an old cap to fit my cover cap on , l will sell them ready to be bonded to original filler cap.

I'm told that the tooling to make the original spec gaiter clips is no longer usable as it got so worn out it was disposed of, trying to find a suitable new alternative is difficult too, none of the new stuff available is exactly ideal either, you can't beat the originals.

Can't beat the originals is just about the correct phrase for anything nowadays , too much choice but NOTHING as good as originals.

Everything watered down so you have to use four times the amount and still doesn't do the job.

Looks like a GOOD job there Dave , Those innertube valves doing a good job ?

Random bodge job / mod for today .
Used an old bicycle brake adjuster for a choke cable stop . Easy to adjust the cable now.
