Re: 2023 IMP NATIONAL - August 3rd – 7th 2023 – Perth Racecourse Scone PH2 6BB
Hi John
The National organisers as fully aware of the closures and have been in discussions with the event organisers for some months and have arranged to have a manned crossing point set up, at the junction with the A93 there is a staggered cross roads, we will use that road into and out of Perth Racecourse.
The runs have been organised to keep us away from the cycling event and the road closures, details of them are up on https://impnational.uk/
We plan to sign post the diversion route for those arriving on the Friday as sat navs etc will want to follow the A93, there maybe delays at the crossing point during the day but have planned for the run to have left before the road closure takes place.

Re: 2023 IMP NATIONAL - August 3rd – 7th 2023 – Perth Racecourse Scone PH2 6BB
It is now just under 4 weeks until the Imp International takes place on the 3rd -7th August at Perth Racecourse celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Imps launch, plans are well under way and details can be found here : Home (impnational.uk) We will continue to update IMPortant information there for those attending, those that can't make it can see what were up to. We are hoping to make a couple of changes to the way we do things that should allow those at home to fell a little bit more part of the event, watch out for the updates.
For those still undecided there is still the chance to book, accommodation is in short supply and expensive due to other events being on the same weekend in Perth but plenty of camping areas still available and it is super cheap, a pitch is basically £10 a unit, four sharing, that would be £2.50 per person, per night plus event tickets. All the details at above website.
The runs are all planned, with various options for places to visit, some of them require prebooking to take advantage of discounts - again all the details are on the website.
The event opens with a trackday at Knockhill on Thursday 3rd, this will be our third visit with the Imp Club, we were there in 2006 and 2013. Everyone raved about it afterwards, the track suits the Imps as it does not have long straights where you run out of gears or revs, it is all about handling at which the Imp excels. The cost is £80 which is a great price, booking details again on the website. Spectator are welcome.
For those that haven't done a trackday and are apprehensive about their inexperience or having a standard car, don't worry the Knockhill track controllers are excellent, at the pre event briefing everyone is told in no uncertain terms that it is a trackday not a race, all overtaking is done on the straights (3) on the left (opposite from the road) and with consent (car in front moves over), they are super strict on this and anyone disobeying these rules will be Black Flagged and pulled into the pits, one warning, second time -removed from the track.
Car preparation, remove all loose objects as they can become a hazard when driving on the track, check all fluid, tyre pressures and your good to go, it doesn't matter if your car is standard or modified you can have fun, just drive within your ability. Start of slowly and build up as you learn the track and gain confidence, the track is actually the safest place to learn to drive quickly. No cars coming towards you and gravel traps to stop you. It is of course not totally risk free but then nothing is.
Driver preparation, you must wear a crash helmet, these can be borrowed from Knockhill, arms and legs must be covered so no shorts or T-shirts, seat belts must be worn at all times. Passengers are allowed but only in the front seat again same rules re clothing and belts and no hand held camera/phones.
Driving licences will be inspected at signing on, no driving licence NO trackday, your car doesn't need to have road tax or insurance to take part but would then need to be trailer there.

More good mojo being paid forward today
Top man Mark Costello
Member turned up without his car as it would not start, only 16 miles down the road from Perth is where he lives, so Mark took his camper van and trailer down picked up the car and brought it to Perth site
Folks did not take long to get it running and it can now drive back under its own seam.

Massive thank you to everyone involved in the organization of another brilliant National.
The track night at Knockhill was excellent. the evenings in the bar were laid back and fun, even the rain held off for the important bits.
Looking forward to next year already.
Cheers

Yes - thanks to everyone involved in the organisation and running of a superb event. Thanks also to the award sponsors, advertisers, the traders who made the journey, the racecourse staff, and, of course, to everybody who came to the event.
It was a long trip for Dawn & I - have only just got home after making a two week holiday around the National. Now need to catch up with other things....

in my defence I did not prepare the list, I copied it from the list that was already prepared. Scott caught a mis-spelling on Hans address and that was fixed.
I suspect this maybe also have been same list submitted to Grahame for the magazine.
Aplogies if that struck a nerve

Suggest you drop Gordon Ritchie an email and let him know of the error so it can be changed, as John says it will have been passed to Grahame Pearson but since the next Impressions not until October plenty of time to be corrected before publication.

Well I knew who it was even if it wasn't spelt right, if you're well known and been in the club a long while and have a reputation I guess most knew who it applied to ? folk often spell my name wrong but I still get the compliments, and moans, so it doesnt make a lot of difference in reality, only on your lottery win cheque maybe

Keep an eye open for how many people on this forum spell Bob Allan's name incorrectly! If I told you I was a pathological liar, would you believe me?

I think it's more a case of Alan, Allen, Alen, Ellen even etc
Not trying to belittle this problem, and I'm sure it can get tiresome, but does it really detract from the achievement ? My surname, Gill, is Gill as in fish. But I'm often called by medical staff as Mr. JILL. But hey ho, I've been called worse. Spelling is, of course, important. Facebook is dominated by the uneducated.

If the nurse calls out "Next Please Mr Jill" and the real Mr Jill, who has only just walked in goes in before you that's where it's more of an annoyance
