Targa rallying

A new BTRDA® Championship!

Targa Road Rallies have been growing significantly in popularity. Now is the time for BTRDA® to launch their own Targa Road Rally Championship to offer competition beyond local Championships.

The last time BTRDA® promoted a Road Rally Championship was in 1987. The World has changed a great deal since those days, but the Championship is hoped to be a significant part of Rallying and wider Motorsport going forward.

Targa Road Rally Regulations (a subset of Road Rally Regulations) enable a wide range of events to be organised. The focus of the BTRDA® Targa Championship for 2021 is at the smoother, simpler end of the scale, where more standard cars can be used. Contenders are also likely to use their cars on a variety of disciplines such as Autosolos, Autotests, Trials, Rallycross, Sprints, Hillclimbs, Autocross, …

The BTRDA® Targa Road Rally Championship will also be included as rounds of the BTRDA® Allrounders Championship to encourage competition across a wider range of disciplines.

Newcomers and Under 25 Contenders are recognised within the Championship.

Qualifying events will be spread around the country, enabling a wide geography to be covered. Some areas are not covered due to the current absence of smoother local Targas, but it is hoped that this situation will change, and the Championship can expand in the future.
