Took the Imp out on the Black Mountains Tour last Sunday. A 160 mile run around some nice lanes in the Brecon, Abergavenny, Builth,
Hay on Wye area.
First decent run I've given the car since buying it year ago! It ran faultlessly, little bit cammy with an R23, for gentle use, but awesome
when you get it up around 6000+ just keeps revving, MAGIC.
The car returned 25mpg, which I was pleasantly surprised at, is that good for a 998? Fair bit of 'spirited' driving during the 160 miles!!!
Ran at around 75 - 80 degrees all day, 4-5 bar pressure, 2 bar at tickover when hot.

Re: Black Mountains Tour.
Stunning scenery! There are some lovely roads in that area. Glad you enjoyed the tour.
25mpg is not great but then it sounds like you were enjoying the car somewhat. An R23 is not designed for pootling about, so probably 25mpg is not bad, in fact.

Yeh awesome photo and great looking car! Have you done much to it since you bought it or did you buy it in it's current form already?

Re: Black Mountains Tour.
Basically bought as is, previous owner spent a fortune on it.
Problem was he didn't put it together very well, so I stripped it and rebuilt it properly, all new, Poly bushes, Silicone hoses, Correct nuts and bolts WITH washers! Repainted the interior, it was HAND painted (badly) strengthened front and rear wishbones, correct fuel lines, repositioned all other lines, (badly fitted), threw the homemade dashboard in the skip, it looked as if the holes were made with a hammer and chisel! Remade the dash in PVC and flocked it, stripped out the wring and rewired it with correct fittings, cables wound together and taped are a NO NO!!!
NEVER JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER.

Yes - great photo and pleased to hear that it all went well. Was that photo taken on the A4069 (the so-called ‘Top Gear Road’ across the Black Mountains)? It certainly looks like it but, as you say, there's plenty of great scenery & roads around there.
