Mike the chap that owns the black stiletto built the frame and all new body panels and all the engineering side of it was done by stuat at rodwell motorsport ,car is looks fantastic and goes like stink you dont need bike power or any other form of engine when you see how this car goes i think my old mate knocker is in for a run to the flag with this should make for some close racing
I also got the letter from cscc and am looking forward to this taking off
a spaceframe can be made to take any power unit, would be a nice tidy lump. I spoke to Tim with regrads to fibreglass shells last year and they were well over 1800 quid just for a body.
I have a spare davrian imp body i advertised it for £250 and had no takers, always a hard job getting money out of imp fans, plenty talkers not many takers LOL
PS, hang fire on the fiat engine, 16 valve Imp engine on the way. 186 hp 12000 rpm gaurantead and no bullshit, carnt say much at the moment but it might make the national.
That will give plenty imp fans sleepless nights and hard ons hahahahahha
All of this talk is most exciting... Brand new Stilettos... Brand new spaceframe racers... A new category for Modsports-type vehicles... 16-valve Imp lumps...
Going to struggle to get to sleep. Not much danger of rolling out of bed, though...

Yes Colin will be there as well as the lovely black stiletto and will be along in mine so should be a good turn out enough for an grid of Imps.
Roll on June. Stuart hope you are reading this I know you like a drive..

Yes it was an alloy blocked BDG. Salvaged the head only. Everything else is scrap including the bellhousing.
Farndon Steel crank & rods etc etc.......sob sob.
Repacement cost of a full engine is approx £28k !
Think I'll be putting something else in.

Ouch! Have you considered a 2.0 BMW unit? Popular engine for historic sports cars eg Chevron.
Do me a deal? Employ me for 3 days and pay me for what I'm currently being paid for 5, then I'll have time to do everything!

If it needs to be historic, fair enough. But what about a Duratec or something modern? I am guessing that it needs to be an age-related engine, though.

I've only ever done it in a single seater.
Depends on whether they use the new chicanes. I think the Bus Stop is bikes only, but Edwina's seems to be used almost always, not sure about the one around Gerards?

I did wonder...and I should think a Hart unit would be even more again. Goes some way to explaining why Chevron B8s are so pricey - they're not overly rare, just breathtakingly pretty

Rapid too, mind.
EDIT - By the way, the BMW M12 was the turbocharged F1 engine. The Chevrons used the M10, which was the road car engine and the basis for the M12 and other rather special racing engines, including the Apfelbeck F2 motor (click here)...

i can contact rob and brian they put there names in the hat can you find out why there names are not down as your in direct contact with cscc as it would be a waste of time for them to go to mallory on the 29th to be told there not on the list ,i paid my membership but have had no reply from cscc
Well the engine is all in bits at the moment, as a new block was needed from my last visit to Lydden but it's all in good hands or safe hands now..
I have been away so I will post it off tomorrow.
Maybe you could put a message on Lyden's
notice board to see if anyone has found a complete
Imp rod and piston, lost around Devils Elbow area
Could have some scrap value.

Wow. How spooky is that?
I do not normally answer the sales lines at work (Webcon) but I just took a message from someone called Miles Castaldini ordering a Weber lever. I'm guessing it must be the same person.

Yes, I have still got my red Stiletto
No, I haven't finished it yet
July 2014: It's MOT'd, Taxed & Insured!
Well haven been to anglesey for the weekend im wrecked and the other reason if they want cars to race there will be a lot quicker imps than mine to choose from
Well i joined the cscc and yes im well up to support a series but i have my reasons for not going on wednesday ,to me they may be right and may well be wrong to everyone else ,im not going to say on here why
i will just keep running with the irish lads and may do a few semsec rounds
Turned out to be a great day at mallory park although not before having to retreive our bonnet which parted from the car on the M62 a quick rivet with some perspect and tank tape and we got on our way.
There were 43 cars i think in all, with 3 imps taking part and the place was buzzing with nostalgia and lots of enthusiasm. After a brief chat with the organisers it seems that there is going to be a series next year of around four rounds, so dust off the mod sports cars and historics and get cracking. We will throw our weight behind it from the HTS as well, so with a bit of look smaller engined cars will be represented.
As for the day, I took the car out first and put around 5 laps and after a brief stop Andy Jones took over to try some different settings. It wasnt long before he was into the groove and he soon realised that the car was wanting some heavy flat out driving. the next sessions went smooth and after a fantstic full breakfast laid on by the wife, we all went back to the pit wall to try again. I felt i had the car going in the right direction and was happy with the progress and let Jonesy finish of the test. With so many higher powered cars on the circuit, Nothing seemed to faze the lad and he went quicker and quicker at one point he was toe to toe with Big berth and was cruisng on his tail flat out on the back straight. It was some show of speed and driving. I must admit i was abit worried at that stage and whhen he brought the car in safe and sound he explained he was going to pass the guest car on the outside round the first corner, but didnt want to upset anyone hahahahah, We all cracked up laughing.
the 2 other imps that came out got plenty laps in and the test proved great all round.
the big day is on August bank holiday 29th so if you want to watch some historic sports cars down that nck of the woods Mallory would be a good place to start.
Thanks for uploading the pics chris, as you can see its not exactly speedo,s weather at Anglessy. The AG Shrigley imp in the paddock and ready for its first race. The picture of the 3 hillmans out together is at Mallory for the revival test. The race meeting itself is on 29th august at Mallory, there are 3 races in total so if you live in that area make a date and come see the races.
