Rosemary Smith RIP

Post by RGWM »

Not sure if this is the appropriate spot on the Forum, but I've just heard the sad news that our beloved Rosemary has passed away, aged 86, in hospital. Many members will have good memories of meeting with and chatting - often at length, with the indomitable character that was Rosemary.

I last met her at our 2019 National, when I was priviledged to collect her from Manchester Airport and drive her to the hotel, and of course interact with her at various times over the weekend, as she involved herself as ever in the full range of activities, and of course to get a signed copy of her autobiography.

A lady who achieved much more than many of us can dream of, she'll be sadly missed.

I'm sure the Club will be producing a proper tribute.

RIchard

I just logged in to post the sad news myself as I was out earlier.

Pete & Karen have already posted it on Social Media as has the Imp Club in Ireland and the tributes from all around speak for themselves and to the lovely lady herself.

Sad news, but isn't it great she had such a remarkable life!

The Irish President said some nice things about her in this article - https://m.independent.ie/sport/womens-s ... 03033.html
