Hello all
Numbers looking good for Imp Ecosse in Montrose. 33 rooms booked at the Hotel plus some brave souls in the South Links Caravan Park including Hans and Marianne Snelders coming over from Netherlands.
Please let me know if you are to be a day visitor only so I have an idea of numbers.
Also if you are not staying at the Links and want to join us for Dinner at 7pm on either Friday, Saturday or Sunday, you need to book direct with Links Hotel on 01674 671000.
Here's hoping the weather will be kind over the weekend.
Kind regards Gordon Ritchie

Things didn't quite go as planned but arrived at the hotel at 6.45pm, a little later than planned. Or was it earlier .... ..

More images of the fantastic turn out today, I missed a few that already set off home.
Was bitter cold and grim today but everyone seemed in fine spirits, even poor Neil nursing a bad arm !
Was not too great myself yesterday but managed it today. Thanks Col for the nudge !
Here they are anyway

Re: Imp Ecosse 2023 21-24 April Montrose
I am sure there will be. Col got loads of images and a few vids as well.
The usual fun awards went to (from memory)
Best Singer - Gary Mathews, although never heard him sing a note
Best Hillman - Alan Faruarson
Best Van - Joe McMillan
Ginetta / Clan - Dave Scott
Farthest travelled - Gill
When speaking with Gordon we are stil short a capsite organiser/manager if you fancy a job for next national
And yes thats my car parked the wrong way round, its been mis-behaving as I cant get it running well, hunts on idle and runs great at higher revs or I can get it to idle great and runs like a bag of odd bolts at high revs and no power. Some more play time needed so I left it where it crapped out did a bit of timing adjusts on way back and back to a ,lumpy middle ground so me and DDG are not speaking again for a bit. Still around 200 miles round trip for me. Motoerway there to get most out the day and small roads on way back for grin factor.
Honestly, I am starting to think this modding and tuning lark is a waste of spacve, our MK 1 is as it left factory and on auto choke and purrs like a happy kitty, you can hardly hear the engine running, just as rootes intended.

Re: Imp Ecosse 2023 21-24 April Montrose
There was more or less 30 cars there on Sunday Andy all turned out very nicely.
Here's a wee video I made of them all lined up in the hotel car park for the show and shine.
It was good to meet up with John at the half way journey marker for me to Ecosse at Kinross services. An uneventful drive up at a steady 60mph to Dundee then onto the coast road to the hotel where it was being held over the weekend. Last time I was there 5 years ago in Paul Coulter's white Imp Super.
Had a good natter with a few people and good look around at the other cars.
On trying to start my car for the journey home it wouldn't start. but found the cause being a loose battery terminal with no bolt in it. . Once sorted I headed towards Fife for a less boring run home.
Well it wasn't boring as on the dual carriageway out of Arbroath I suddenly lost power and coasted to a layby. Luckily Dave and Jim stopped to see if they could help. After messing around with a duff starter relay it looked like the newly fitted fuel regulator had vibrated or moved to 0psi which may have caused the lack of power. Still not starting on the button so Jim and Dave pushed started me and I was on my way.
Thanks again to Jim and Dave for getting me going, appreciated the help. Thanks to John for meeting with me at Kinross.
Good turn out for Imp Ecosse and everyone I spoke to enjoyed the weekend.
Well done to the organisers for making it a success.
See you at Linwood next week.
Cheers
Col.

Huge thanks to all the organisers. I had a great time. Got home at 8pm last night after a total of 1330.4 miles, 963.2 towing the Chamois behind the BMW and 367.2 in the Chamois.

Re: Imp Ecosse 2023 21-24 April Montrose
Finally I have the time to thank Gordon and Alan for a fantastic event at Montrose. As many know, Lesley and I went from Montrose to Coventry staying in North Yorkshire for 2 nights on the way. After 11 nights away we finally arrived home Monday afternoon. Staying in the motorhome and towing the Imp worked well for us, covering over 1,100 miles. No idea what we did in Hilda - we don't record miles or mpg. Hilda ran well all the time we were away, in contrast to the weekend before we left when we feared she would be left at home. Imps eh?
Saturday's weather was great, the run was great, such great roads, and great evenings spent with friends. Hilda even got to the top of Cairn O' Mount without too much fuss - not bad for a car down on compression and burning some oil.
Already looking forward to next year. Who's arranging that?
Many thanks
Phil & Lesley..
