HSCC 2017 - another Imp champion
Congratulations to Steve Platts for securing the 2017 HTC Championship today at Silverstone with another 2 class wins, even surviving a late clash in the second race with a spinning Ford Anglia (Popular shape) that had been tapped by a Mini.
Great day and as usual, great support for the competitors from Imp Club members out in force (I'm sure it wasn't the lure of the chocolate cake) - thanks to all who braved the very cold wind to join us.
Also a successful day for Adrian Oliver who managed to get his new build car out and after taping down the flexi bonnet after practice enjoyed 2 cracking races and will surely be up with Steve next year.
Stuart Kerr was also out and dicing with a Mini and the aforementioned Anglia - a great 2 second improvement in race 2 after some minor adjustments.
I had a slightly below par qualifying but the races were good - couldn't quite catch the battle between Steve and the Mini of Barry Sime in race 1 but managed to pick up the pace in race 2 and set a personal best on this track, despite this I was still edged out by the new champ!

Well done to Steve and thanks to Simon for the help with the alternator bracket. Unfortunately the belt was shredded again but not until after being attacked by a Spitfire. Despite the very loud impact damage restricted to tyre marks and slight paint removal - don't know about the Spitfire. Strong cars these Clans. Alternator belt problem solved now.

Well done indeed to Steve for the Championship win! It was great to see some hard fought racing on Sunday.
Here are some of my photos. Grahame - let me know if you would like any at full resolution for Impressions.

Yes please, Paul. But I need at least one of Steve's Imp which I think is red and doesn't seem to be in your selection!ImpManiac wrote:Well done indeed to Steve for the Championship win! It was great to see some hard fought racing on Sunday.

I also need a few paragraphs for the mag to accompany pics. So far nothing received.

Grahame
I've sent you a couple of mine that I took of Steve and his car. My photos taken from the grandstand were mostly poor - poor light conditions or into sunlight and through fencing.. not best conditions - so no Imps in action.

Re: HSCC 2017 - another Imp champion
I kept missing Steve's car! Either it passed me by before I could get a picture or it was obscured by other cars on track. Anyway, it looks like Phil Smith got some really good pictures of Steve's Chamois.
I shall email mine to you later this evening. Alas, I was too focused on the photography to pay very much attention to the racing, so I'd better leave the written account to someone else.
