Yes, my weekend was all about dead batteries - dead battery on my audi tow car and dead battery on the singer, plus a knackered alternator... had a great weekend, good test on friday and was pretty happy with pratice on saturday. Can't agree more about everyones comments regarding the comradery amongest the imp drivers, plus the support from fellow Imp owners, looking forward to Silverstone. Just dropped off the Audi at the garage to get that fixed, the battery is under the drivers seat and seems a major job to change, guess that's what they call development! Singer is in the garage, awaiting another alternator plus i'll sort out the wiring... and will make sure i charge the battery the night before
Also have to thank the man that let me put my car under his very professional looking awning, alongside his race lorry..
When we spoke on Saturday you said that the large terminal had broken and that you had replaced it with a blue one. Was that a smaller sized one and consequently could the non charging be due to that being connected to the wrong terminal?
Got some pictures from cadwell, Sorry about the black and white!
Andy - I might do another edit of the coming race meetings, depends how much footage i get at each one.
Cheers, James

Have just seen the "Hilmanators" video from Cadwell. It shows the importance of windscreen demist blower arrangements!
Especially in a rainy country like UK
The black and white photos look cool mate, they look like they were taken in the sixties. Like the video, you really captured the atmosphere of the day, reminded me of the Steve McQueen LeMans opening scenes and Senna. Well done mate!
The video leading upto my coming together with the Armco just shows how bad the conditions were! The accident is not as clear as it might have been for the steaming up of the windowscreen - soz! No video of the 2nd race as the camera battery went flat as a result of recording for 1 1/2 hrs whilst sitting on the start line on saturday. Car is repairable but not easily! See you later in the season when its repaired. Heres the video - http://youtu.be/Jk8jPIupZ1E
I surprised to see Andy and Steves windscreens steamed up, I tried years ago running a car without the heater with much the same result
while understanding the need for lightness either a heated screen or even a 12V fan heater would not add any weight and avoid the problem.
Steve -hope you get the car sorted quickly, you seemed to have the same problem there on nearly all the laps - standing water and aquaplaning

Yes, we demand demist equipment, twin windshield wipers and charged video camera batteries!!
Tested my car around the curborough sprint circuit on thurs and it felt like trying to drive a F1 car around a kart track !!! And it was wet ! but my car was really behaving it's self and from what I can see gears and gearing are now spot on and pulls like a train towards the red line in 1st 2nd and 3rd as I ran out of road !
Now know a little about imps and wet weather ! But have my fingers crossed for dry , sunny weather for Silverstone in a few weeks time !

I was thinking about going to some races in late may/early June when I am in UK and do an inspection of the Imps moving fast under their own power. BUT in the HRSR homepage there where no calendar for 2012. Can anyone tell me abut any races in this period?

Have a look on the HSCC web site, that lists all the dates. (sorry, hadn't seen Chris' post)
Looks like Silverstone is 19/20 May & Snetterton 9/10 June are next dates.
If you want the special saloons then they are at Silverstone on May 26th
Guys, would it be possible for us to bring our Period G ('71) cars over from Norway for races? If we swapped for the same tires you use?
They are FIA cars, HTP, and probably a lot slower with less trick bits and more tempered engines. Only issue would be that we run wide arches.
We'd love to meet up and try a few proper circuits!

Nice idea, but ask about the event fee in UK. I guess it is quite high. Give Sports Car Meeting in Knutstorp, Sweden a thought!
I dearly want to see your Imps in action. We have two Imps from Denmark so that will be at least 4 Imps in the Historic class.
knutspeed wrote:Can't be that high compared to Norway besides, I'd love to race the famous tracks I've walked! Yes, we'll look into more races in Sweden as well.
How can it be high in Norway?? You have the oil!!!
I hope to get there for the race on Sunday. The later time for the race is handy. I can just pop out for the Saloons if our visitors have left by then. Living so close to Silverstone is very handy.

That was the biggest over-reaction to a little tap i've ever heard from a spectator. Not to mention that the mustang probably didn't even notice the little imp rebounding off it.

Certainly was OTT. The Mustang driver probably thought he'd driven over some gravel or something.
