Looked like a cross between an autotest & a regatta :D . Great to see the clan showing the correct place to put the engine 8) .
I see from the photo's that you decided to get the car working before you finished the headlights & respray - best decision - get it roadworthy then tweek it.

Cheers

Wel done Si. Welcome to the Clan winners. Looking at the results I wondered what determines the classes?

Think that should be winning Clan.

Pete Richards
cheers Pete,

classes for the FDMC events in 2007 as follows:

Classes and eligibility:
A. Historics; any car, registered or manufactured before 01/Jan 1975
B. Other saloons / estates / 4 seat coupes, up to 1400cc
C. Other saloons / estates / 4 seat coupes, 1401 to 1800cc
D. Other saloons / estates / 4 seat coupes, over 1800cc
E. Production (open and fixed roof ) 2 seat sports cars
F. Low volume sports cars, kit cars suitable for road use, and others
ineligible for classes A to E

Cars eligible for Class A shall run in that class, rather than in the
corresponding class from B to E.

Classes with fewer than 4 entries may be amalgamated.

Class F includes all Caterhams, Westfields, Lotuses and similar. Diesels,
with or without forced induction, will run in the class corresponding to their
capacity. A petrol engine with forced induction, in class B or C, will move up one capacity class. A rotary engine will be classed at twice its nominal
capacity.

All cars must retain the original body profile above the hub centreline, apart from accessories such as spoilers. Cars not conforming to this requirement, or one-off specials, or kit cars of an ‘off-road’ nature, are not eligible for this event.

Suspension and transmission may be modified, within their original
configuration. Tyres marked ‘for competition use only’, or manufactured
without a full tread pattern, may not be used.

Additional eligibility requirements, Classes A to E:
In classes A to E, cars must retain the original panel and window materials
although additional panels, e.g. wheel arch extensions, and accessories may
be added. They must have full trim and seats although the type may be
replaced.
The engine must be of the original manufacture and original basic type (eg:
BMC ‘A’ series) and must be fitted in the original position, but may be a
different version, may be modified, and may be a different capacity, provided
the car is entered in the class corresponding to its actual capacity.
Cars not meeting these requirements are eligible only for Class F.
The organisers’ decision will be final, regarding the eligibility and most
appropriate class for any particular car.
As per GR F13.1; cars entered in AutoSolo’s must be registered, taxed,
insured, MOT tested if applicable, and driven to the event.
Please note, these requirements will be enforced. Tax discs must be
displayed; proof of insurance cover, and MOT’s (for cars over 3 years old)
must be available at scrutineering / signing on; and trade plates will not be
accepted.

I have just recieved an email from the Loughborough Car Club regarding their evening series of club Auto Solos: -

Tuesday 1st May – Evening Solo – Donington Sunday Market Site

As this is the first of the year and a number of people have been asking for details here is an outline of the event.

This is an event for members of Loughborough Car Club and Coalville Car Club. Non members are welcome but will be expected to join the car club before they can enter.

The event starts at 7.00.

Entries will be accepted from 6.30 to 8.00.

The event is expected to finish at 9.00 to 9.30

Food will be available afterwards as the Donington Park Farmhouse Hotel will be putting on supper at a very reasonable price. The choices will be circulated later and food must be preordered.

Cars must be Road Legal and driven to the event.

Two drivers may share the same car.

Access to the site is tricky as you will have to enter via the main circuit entrance and follow the road which runs alongside the circuit wall. Anybody who drives quickly on this road is jeopardising our future use of the site. The route will be arrowed.

See you there :) ?

that guy (Simon) spent all day on three wheels!

risk of rolling is very low - more of an issue for the taller front drive hatches

Doesn't seem to happen in North Yorkshire...

..plenty of rallies maybe, but a totally differen't level of preparation is needed for that..

Si

If I still lived in Winchester I'd be there at every event you entered.

And I know what would happen next.....I'd be forced to strip the Clan to nothing.... just to get close

Thanks for this Si....it pays to be connected...obviously I'm not.

There's plenty of events here afterall!

Tockwith airfield is definitely do-able (30th September)

And the Elvington Sprint in June is worth a viewing (obviously can't enter that).

And Hartlepool is possible - have to fit locking wheel nuts and remove the snap-on steering wheel when parked mind you....

Cheers
