Couple of untidy moments but the drawings are not to scale and we had never seen the test sites before so driving blind.

Thank you very much, Mike. I found Geoff and Steve in the results. :) They were doing well against some tough opposition! 8)

Any idea what went wrong with the transmission? It sounds like oil loss leading to a mechanical failure of some kind.

engine and box coming up to me soon for a valve clearance check on engine. I will report back on the box findings but to me i suspect a broken crownwheel tooth or sun and planet wheel failure, this is based on, i can select all gears the, car drove off the main road making a clunking sound, no oil loss on the sump guard.

Steve and Geoff's times were good there were quite a few moderns struggling to match the pace.

Wow cannot believe how long it is since i posted on here. Rallying in the forests not looking likely to end of year. Still waiting on info of some events that you can compete in with a standard road car.

Saturday 22nd May Devils Own Targa Rally - Cockermouth

Saturday 12th June Barbon Hillclimb Inter - club event

Saturday 3rd July Barbon Hillclimb National A and Club event

Sunday 11th July Cars the Star Show

Sat/Sun 7/8 August Harry & Ivy

Sunday 29th August Pendragon Stages Rally

Saturday 23rd October Devils Own Rally

The above are being run by Kirkby Lonsdale car club although i am not sure about the Pendragraon stages. If you want to watch i suggest marshalling but you can just turn up and watch and if you have suitable car get an entry in. All these events are in the North west of England, Lancashire and Cumbria.

I will try and add some more posts to this thread this year.

Many years since I stood out overnight marshalling on an event - even longer since I drove or navigated on one.

Must try to have a look at how "modern" rallying is, now, and maybe get to a hillclimb - don't think I've ever been to Barbon - done Baitings and Scammonden in the past!

Keep us posted, Mike! :)

I'd love to marshal at some of these events. I have never spectated at a rally. Some petrolhead, huh? :o Sadly, I am not in a position to give up any more 'spare time' just now. But in the future...

Managed to finish the Mull Rally in the Imp😀
After spending a year building the car it ran faultlessly all weekend although the historic spec Viva discs and Herald calipers brakes did struggle to stop it at times, particularly over the Mishnish Lochs stages.
I first competed on Mull in an Imp in 1986 so this completed the circle for me being able to achieve the same feat 35 years later

Geoff Taylor and Steve Greenhill will be out on the Malton rally. Unfortunately I will not be there on the spanners due to work commitments but club member Keith Livesey Will be No 1 mechanic. Any imp club members handy with the spanners will be fed and watered and have good crack with the team if they want to get involved for more details on the event contact me mikedent87@gmail.com
