Go onto the DVLA website and download two copies of form V888. Fill them in requesting the history of each car. Send them off with a cheque for £5 each and in a few weeks you should receive copies of everything the DVLA has on your cars, including details of all previous owners. You can then try writing to the previous owners for any info, pics, histories etc they may have. Naturally many will have moved on, passed on etc but you may get lucky.

I did this with my old Frogeye and managed to make contact with the original dealer and the family of a previous owner.

or wait a few moments and Tim will be along to tell you he probably owned them both twice over or if he didn't he will probably know the people who did. he has a database in his head that is far superior to the DVLA when it comes to imps.

I recognise both reg numbers, but not sure where from currently... I'll sleep on it and it'll probably come back to me. 8)

Thanks for the replies.

For ENM I did send for a V888 from DVLA, and didn't give me much information. :( I haven't yet done a V888 for OFM.

Tim, I am the person who lives next door to Neil Ferris, don't know if you will remember me. ENM has be dry stored since 1985, and OFM has been stored since 2005.

ENM has it's original colour of Forrest Green, and OFM, has been painted 3 or 4 times. OFM is now ford performance blue with a Vauxhall polar white and black chequeres.

Apparently, one of ENM's previous owners was a imp enthusiast and I was hoping he was still around and on the forum so I can physically talk to him about my car and was hoping one of OFM's previous owners was also on here.

Any help gratefully recieved.

Cheers,

Ben.

Ah-ha! Yes, I do remember you, Ben and thats where I'm getting the recollection of ENM from. Very pretty car.

I think my recollection of OFM is from an old copy of Impressions (Imp Club magazine) from a *very* long time ago.

Tim,

You don't happen to have a copy of the magazine of which OFM is in (a long shot I know but you never know) that I could have a copy of.

Aparently it was taken off the road in 2005, and left until 2008, when the previous owner brought her, restored her to her current condition, then I brought her and got to put her back together.

I cannot wait to get her on the road and drive an imp for the very first time.

I haven't decided if I am to scrap ENM or to continue, over £4500 on ENM and all I have is a rotten bodged up shell, not even started welding, if I continue with her I need to find a N/S/R inner wheel arch outer tub if anyone knows where to get one. I brought a repair panel from Malcolm Anderson, but not happy with the fit so trying to find a good quality complete panel or have one made.

Thanks to all the comments, they really are helpful.

Hi Ben,

All my copies of Impressions are in boxes in the spare room - I'm unlikely to get to them for some time tbh, as my newborn son is taking up *rather a lot* of my time currently!!

It is just a recollection... I could be wrong, it does happen.

It would be sad to cut up ENM - if you have spent so much on it and the welding hasn't been done, what have you spent it on?

I am not sure what I have spent that amount of money on, £10 here, £20 there £100 elsewhere, all I know is I have a file with all my expendature and calculating it all up, that is what it comes to. I don't want to scrap her because I love it and seen as I started it, I want to finish her how I want her to be. ENM has been nothing but an endless money pit and probably will continue to be up until and beyond me finishing her. Having saying that, why do I need two imps.

Hi everyone on the forum,

It may sound stupid but I'm new to owners club forums, I'm trying to upload some pics of the two cars, without success. Could someone explain to me where I am going wrong.

Cheers

ENM may be the first Imp I tried to buy back in about 2005/2006. The colour and four headlamp front end look the same. The reg rings a bell too, did have a photo somewhere but cannot find it now. If it is the same it was kept in a lock up garage somewhere in Herts/Beds just off the M1. I viewed it and agreed a price then the seller pulled out saying his daughter's boyfirend was going to restore it. He said a friend in the trade had fitted the front end for him many years before. Does the V888 info state addresses for the owners?

First of all, thank you to all of the members who have read and replied to my post on both my imps.

On ENM,

Barry,

Thank you very much, you have made me a very happy boy indead, Everything you mentioned is true of the bloke I brought her off back in 2011. His address is
David Mew
2 Great Lane,
Clophill,
Bedford
MK45 4BQ,
If this is the address.

His daughter lives 3 miles from where I live and her (now husband) is a car lover and she loves the car to bits, (bring many memories back). I don't know if you remember, but it was put away in 1985. If you happen to find any pictures of ENM, or the for sale ad when you saw her, I love to have them for my history file I'm accumulating for her, and also tell me how bad she was when you saw her all them years ago.

Dom,

Thank you for your help, muchly appreiciated, ENM was put away in 1985, and OFM was taken off the road in 2005.

On OFM,

I have found the original chassis plate and found it was originally signal red from the factory.

Anymore info greatly apprieciated as I am accumulating a file for both cars and I want to have as much history as I can on them.

If I can find the photo I'll post it up here. That's the right general area of where I saw the car but I cannot remember names or actual addresses now. Had a quick look on Google Streetview and don't recognise Great Lane. From memory the Imp was in a lock-up typre garage, I think in a row of several garages.

There was a line of surface rust across the roof where water had dripped off the overhead door over the years. The door corners were a bit crusty but the rest was pretty solid. I have always been annoyed with him for pulling out of the deal at the last minute and often wondered what happened to it.

Decided to have another look for the pics....................................and I found them! They pre-date this computer but luckily I had everything from the old one copied over.

The pics were taken from the original Ebay ad so aren't the best.

Enjoy!

I have been so busy atm with getting OFM ready for Perth, (not finished yet, but fingers crossed not far), they are the same pictures I had when I brought her, i'll try and take a picture of her now and how much she has changed.

What do you think of OFM.

OFM definitely looks more ready for the road!

Stil annoyed with the guy over ENM

We had even agreed the date I would collect it and I had a mate from work lending me a trailer etc. I called the seller about 2 days before just to confirm timings etc and he dropped the bombshell

Hi , If OFM has a Stiletto dash fitted then it was a car that I bought from Audlem just north of Stoke on trent many years ago!

I ran it for a few months and sold it on to a good friend near Knutsford who wanted to fix her up . It was a disgusting pea soup green colour and was so coked up that one night of giving it a good thrash up to Buxton the engine and exhaust decided to decarbonise itself in good fashion with flames, sparks and smoke clouds lol , we fitted a stiletto dash and a front spoiler before he ran out of time and money. At this point it was sold to some chaps in Stoke and thats as far as I know on the history before I saw it come up on ebay a year or so ago.

Will be interesting to hear if it is the car I'm thinking of. :D

Just re-reading this thread, £4500 on ENM?!?! :o

Seriously, what have you spent it on? Don't even think of scrapping it, it can't be that bad.
