I let my children play with my toy cars, they already are play worn, and he is having fun, although I must drill and tap the hartwell replica to hold the base plate on. He goes straight for that one because he knows he can dismantle it!, (just like daddy has with the real one)

Bought one of these transporters off Ebay. Will paint it up like the Rootes transporters and diplay it with a selection of Imps on board. Imp011 Imp009
Singer Chamois Sport, Hillman Imp Caledonian, Hillman Imp rally car and a spare. Now got enough space; for the time being.

My thoughts about mine too. Any idea where to get the decals from?

Good to see other enthusiasts also making up car transporters with Commer cabs.

You can make up transfers/decals and best to use durable laser printed ones I've found but not all makes of printers will accept the decal paper I've discovered.

My ongoing plan is for a triple decker transporter trailer like Rootes used still not sure what colours they used as most photos were B&W rather than colour.

Nice also to see mad dog using Avengers too, I've done a few models in Chrysler Works colours for my friends in ASOC club as well as some for myself

I faced the same knowing which colour to use as you say all pictures I've seen are black & white.
I think the later dark blue is correct for the Chrysler era as the service vans were that colour but I remember somebody telling me that the transport of cars was done by a private company.
I've used what they call "modellers licence" as did not wish my transporters to be private company ones!
Regards,
Gethin.

Thank Gethin
I've also been told by reliable sources [one a friend who ran Commers in their truck fleet] and who also ran a period garage ,that belivery transporters and parts delivery trucks came from a private firm but so far not found picture evidence > some mention though of red and silver

If you look in Paint Catalogues that bodyshops used there is a section that covers premixed colours for big commercial companies that regularly bought in new or repaired their truck fleets. In that section is CHRYSLER CORPORATE BLUE and that is colour Chrysler Dealers used for their garages and firm vans. Up to that time i.e. in Rootes Era a darker blue was used, and was used by my friend Steve Williams for the PB Service van that he's displayed at NEC several times

Chrysler's own fleet were actually painted corporate blue and Arctic white with the break at the natural body line. All equipment on breakdown trucks was painted medium grey.

Most people use the wrong blue, capri blue or rizla blue seem favourites. I found out the above from the corporate memo on vehicle colour schemes printed in impressions Dec 2001 and independently verified from a flyer for the breakdown fleet printed by my local chrysler dealer (now long closed down).
