Re: Clan Crusader Slot car
Hi Peter,
I have both of these but never got round to fully assembling them though. I did wonder if, being 1/24, they may be slightly too wide for Scalextric track when overtaking/being overtaken. FWIW I painted them INSIDE the shell which gives a glossy chip-resistant finish (this technique is also used on clear R/C bodyshells). They are nowhere near as accurate as the current crop of superb resin shells but they are lightweight so should appeal to the 'serious' slot-racers out there (if the aforementioned scale is not a problem).
Just a thought, for a short period in the 60s Scalextric made 1/24 cars and track. An E-Type jag was one car and, IIRC, a Ferrari GTO may have been the other.

Re: Clan Crusader Slot car
Oh I see. The Clan looks the better of the two but the 1/24 scale makes it less appealing I suppose.
Anyway, the only track I have (and I've got masses of it) is the AFX stuff and thats more like 1/64!

Re: Clan Crusader Slot car
I think it was an Alfa coupe of some sort Grahame, and the track was 3 lane with stainless steel 'rails'. There were also a couple of single seater racers too.Grahame59 wrote:Just a thought, for a short period in the 60s Scalextric made 1/24 cars and track. edit: It was an Alfa GTZ - do a google images search on "scalextric super 124".
If I told you I was a pathological liar, would you believe me?

Yes, now you mention it, it was indeed an Alfa Zagato.bazzateer wrote:I think it was an Alfa coupe of some sort Grahame, and the track was 3 lane with stainless steel 'rails'. There were also a couple of single seater racers too.

Re: Clan Crusader Slot car
Carrera make off-the-shelf track suitable for 1/24 cars. Alternatively you could always make your own with some timber, a router and some copper tape.

Re: Clan Crusader Slot car
Many moons ago I converted a 1/24 scale airfix lotus 7 to scalextric. Being a small car in RL it suits the standard track quite well. Just don't crash or it'll fall apart.
Do me a deal? Employ me for 3 days and pay me for what I'm currently being paid for 5, then I'll have time to do everything!
