That Fraser Imp just went right to the top of my wish list.

Looks like I'll be adding to my Imp slot car collection! A few of the other cars look good too.

They look fab! Are they suitable for scalextric?
Do me a deal? Employ me for 3 days and pay me for what I'm currently being paid for 5, then I'll have time to do everything!

Should be, at most the guide may need a trim.

Excellent! My plans of a loft track may well take off now! Do you think the 24 heures du milton keynes will catch on?!?

Sounds like a plan. I'll be liberating most of my slot car collection from the lock-up and Actuarius Impetus' loft in the near future so should be able to field a car or two.

Right then. Just need to put some boards on the joists and buy loads of track off Ebay to add to my 30something year-old collection. And get my hands on those GTM lovelies!

They don't appear to be available to purchase yet. I hope the project hasn't run off the rails. :(

I've been in touch asking about availability and got the following

Hi Richard,

Sorry no updated information from GTM yet. We will put any news into our newsletter and on the MRE website when we get any details.

Happy New Year.

Regards, Gary & Ali at MRE

Cheers

John from Ocar slot cars announced on Slotforum tonight that he's planning an Imp resin shell too. We'll be spoilt for choice between Highway32, GTM and Ocar. There must be a lot of demand for Imps. I hope the big slot car makers (Scalextric, SCX, et al) are paying attention.

Hooray, finally these seem to be on sale:

I've heard some grumbles from the slot fraternity about the detailing, but it looks good to me. Possibly the wide arch one looks a little bit cartoonish, but otherwise I think they look great.

Looks like no ready-to-race ones available though so you'll need to paint them yourself and provide your own running gear (readily available from slot car shops)

I finally got around to getting a GTM Fraser Imp. I thought it might be useful to see what you get in a kit.

Image

With the Fraser kit you get shell, bespoke chassis, interior insert, window insert, driver's' head, screws, two headlights, two bonnet straps and a decal sheet.

You'll need to supply your own motor, guide, axles, wheels, gears and wiring. All of this stuff is readily available from slot car shops - and there are plenty of them online.

By comparison the Traffic Model Cars/Highway32 Imp kit supplies everything you need, except decals, but it does use a generic chassis which needs to be cut up a bit to fit.

Unfortunately my shell was cracked in the post. George from GTM is sending me a free replacement. Thanks George!

I'll have to familiarise myself with which drivers/events relate to which competition numbers so I can figure out which car I'm going to model.

Edit: 114 seems to be Ray Calcutt at Goodwood 1966.
