The convoy will be forming up at Sandbach Services early on friday morning as we plan to get past birmingham before the rush hour madness, dont want to be sitting in traffic overheating etc
There is a strong possibility that bacon sarnies will be provided if there is enough interest! :D

Cheers

Bob Allan and I will be going down on the Thursday if anybody wants to join us. Bob has to have the spares "shop" open for business on Friday!
We will be trailering too, so it's 60mph max all the way :-(

I'd like to tag onto the end of a convoy- It will only be for the last hour or so as I'm only half hour max away from the (essex side) of the dartford bridge!

Simple way to cure that. Add your name below the day you are departing, cut and paste both days in to your reply to keep both lists up to date:

Thursday convoy

Friday convoy

I live right by junction 15 of M6 and I never go anywhere near it if I'm going to the South East, I always use A50/M1 instead and it's much easier and quicker.

M6 these days is reserved for M6/M5 run if heading south west

I will possibly be hneading to the national, not sure which feryy I wll be coming off
most likly to be thursday,

if you are going by the A50 (much more imp friendly im my opinion) there is an eatery
caleed the snail box where roger swift and myself stopped on the way to imp40
check with roger for an exact location, but its about halfway alnog the 50.

I agree with your comments about the A50 and M1 route Aldrin, but both Bob Allan and I will be towing and all those roundabouts will be a pain in the @rse! So we will be taking the boring motorway all the way route, probably via M42, M40 and M25 as that avoids paying the toll for the Dartford crossing.

Right bit of an update now, ive decided that i will be going to the national providing that my car is ready by then which if not i will be totally gutted as i almost have all the parts to fix it now thanks to a few kind members.....thanks guys!!!
Noel's and mine original plan will still be going ahead whereby those wishing to join in the convoy down on the friday morning will meet up at Sandbach services where i shall, if there is enough demand, provide people with freshly cooked bacon sarnies :P

Thanks very much!

Still trying to get LNK ready for the MOT but should be ready for National. At the moment I'm intending to travel down on the Thursday, probably earlyish. Anyone likely to be going round the northern section of the M25 on Thursday morning?

Note for anyone going south for the National weekend....

AVOID: The M1 and the Northern Section of the M25 round to the Dartford Tunnel.

There are horrendous roadworks on both that will cripple your journey. Although it looks longer on the map, use the M40 onto the Southern Section of the M25 as it will pay you huge dividends in time saved.

Hope that helps.

Yes good 1 tim i got stuck in that a few weeks ago also if you are heading around the m25 best to try and get on it between 12 midday and 3pm or do your run a night when we went to scotland in 06 we left epsom at 5am and got above birmingham rush hour so its the same heading this way

If your out of rush hour times, it doesn't seem to hold you up too much, but just beware of the 50MPH limit with average speed cameras.

Nope, was definately 50mph on Thursday night. The M20 cameras were 40mph for a long time and then changed to 50mph, and finally they are gone, hurah!

Thanks for the warning mate. We were planning to go M40 and then anti-clockwise round the London orbital car park in any case, but your warning has just confirmed that plan!

Dang, I'll be going clockwise round the M25, because I'm only a couple of junctions away from the Dartford Tunnel, past where there's all the roadworks!

I'll have to get my own convoy together!
