Just redone the Chamois sport badge as it was looking quite tatty .
For the purists amongst you are correct .
This badge was never produced . ;)
As my Singers NOT a sport fitting a proper Singer sport badge seemed wrong so I made this myself .
Chamois part was cut and shaped from a knackered Chamois Coupe badge and the sport part is from an Imp sport with the Imp bit cut off .
joint is behind the dividing bar .
Last pic is the proper Singer Sport badge I put on whilst doing up my badge .

Not paint - its actually special tape used on Helicopter blade edges - mega sticky and very tough - should be ok I hope - easy to change if not

Ahhh, I would have never thought to use a tape!
Thanks something to think about once I've got a solid shell to attach a badge too.

Well the Towel rail is off the Vusky , i used it tother day to drag myself out from groveling underneath and its so thin it bent :o .
Even this took longer than expected and was more complicated than it should be - mainly because id mounted the reversing light on it -DOH !!!!.
The plan was to cut the lower steel legs off the towel rail and refit just these as it would still give me the reversing light mounting point - however because of the towel rail thickness the angles were wrong so much bending of brackets was required to get these bits back on sans the chrome bit .
Anyway the trial fit is a success and the reversing light is exactly where it was before - the lower steel legs will still add support for the bumper .
Legs will have to come off again for painting this week sometime.
Funny how when i first fitted it it looked great but now it looks better without .
Piccies for you all resized via facebook :)

So then my window aerial on the Singer lost its top extension .
Solution is thus
1, Buy a cheapo extending aerial for less than 9 notes.
2, Saw off the bottom section.
3, Remove old part and fit newness bit using the original screw thread after carefully drilling a small hole through the bottom segment .
4, Stand back and admire the bodgeimication of it all

Re: Nods news - Supplier sticker

Post by Dave ' Linwood ' Lane » Sat Jul 02, 2016 7:12 am

Anyone here ??
Around 6 months ago and after much research i did eventually find out where the Vusky was bought new .
They werent even main dealers but Rootes Agents .
Seemed only right to get a sticker made although as the rear window is film tinted it was tricky to fit given i had to cut a small bit out the right size .
Strangely both of my cars original suppliers are colours :o

Just a random pic from todays Haynes Breakfast club meeting - i gave it an oil and filter change when i got home - engine was nice and warm so its easier to do .
Carb setting seems absolutely spot on - New aerial worked superbly so radio 2 has returned full time now.
Its all good ATM :) Fingers crossed

Sidelights are in the headlights . I much prefer the cleaner look of just the single coloured lens on the front .

And what was once sidelights are now just small amber running lights - pointless but i like them and it makes use of the old sidelights. All orange lenses are US spec Hunter ones.
I did try all clear ones on the front like the Vusky has but it looks wrong on a light coloured car IMHO so went the other way .
Vusky has all clear - Singer has all amber

It would seem the Vusky is starting to die bit by bit .
A short while back the towel rail / nudge bar on the rear bumper gave up and tonight the UKs --- no maybe even the worlds last known pair of GENUINE Commer Imp Van mudflaps called it a day.
Im not surprised as they are known for rotting and splitting .
However they are Totally irreplaceable rather like the Dodo :(

Playing again .
The centre boot board has had it , its about to snap in two - added to which ive altered the front auxilary rad so the valves didnt line up with the holes plus my tab to screw thread mod meant bodging up the top row of holes .
Managed to get my grubbies on some mega tough 2mm thick board - its black all the way through and bends at 90˚ without cracking - added to which once its bent it stays bent - in fact its superb stuff .
So i made a new board for the Vusky - its a slightly lighter black but that can be sorted.
PS its not available to the general public and that sheet cost £20

Re: Nods news , Starting handle hole blanking plug .

Post by Dave ' Linwood ' Lane » Fri Jul 08, 2016 6:23 pm

Back talking to myself again
With the US spec bumper being so far away from the bodywork the starting handle hole is very visible from certain angles and seeing as this bumper has no hole for said starting handle it all looked a bit of a mess .
I didnt want to weld and fill it in as the hole can be useful for turning the engine over etc.
For decades i had a large rubber grommet in the hole and whilst it was better than a hole it was big - black and ugly.
Anyway i found some flat grommets designed for a 32mm hole 5mm thick that fitted straight in - then it was just a case of making a decent body coloured plug to fit - drilling a small hole in the centre of the new grommet and popping it on .
Its fitted using a knurled nut from behind so removable in seconds .

All good stuff, Dave. As for the aerial fix , I think I'd have taken it to Maplins first. They stock quite a selection of different fixings at our local branch. Just sayin'

I see it's on left full lock. Is it knocking regardless of steering wheel position? Can't see the RH u-bolt, is that as solid ass LH appears to be? Checked the plastic (nylon?) damper inside the rack, spring and adjusting screw?
