Are you undersealing it or just applying waxoyl?

Your Sport wheel trims will scratch those nicely restored rims, unless youve a way around it? :o

Waxoyl.

The wheels are powder coated and lacquered. Not too worried about scraping the paint as they would do that anyway. But hopefully being power coated and lacquered (in error, they were only supposed to be powder coated!) they will be fine.

Takes me back to when they were new in the showroom, I very nearly bought one, quite liked the idea of the cloth seats which was quite a new thing back then, had a Sport instead, it was only the Deep Mango finished that swayed me, and there was only 100 quid difference in the price  .

Did you have to renew the seat cloth or was it ok, you can get it still from America I believe but you have to buy a mile of it  , its called Boca Ratan, but you probably know that anyway?

Thanks. A couple of bits to tidy up and it will be finished. All the work has been done by Clark Dawson, so any plaudits are his. Not seen it for several weeks but plan to go down over the weekend and see it in the flesh. It's only been test driven up the farm road but it drives fine and is pretty tight and quiet.

Not sure what the first outing will be but not able to make it to Imp Ecosse or Going Dutch; unfortunately. So maybe Stirling or Moffat. Imp009

Its got to be worth a fair bit now, as its probably the best of its type out there as almost all bar a handful have been left to rot away, I had a friend who had one and hers was scrapped due to terminal rot at I think 4 years old :? whether you would get the cost of the restoration back yet I doubt it, but it is now virtually concours rather than the usual conkers condition, but if you hang on to it it will eventually recover its costs, thats my exact intention too now.

Thanks for that. Aye, it doesn't matter what it's worth to others, I know what it's worth to me. The car is stunning. A few trim bits to sort out that were broken when I bought the car. The plan was to keep the car as I bought it, but restored mechanically and bodily and modernised. Things like the car came with front door trims fitted but not in the back, original radio works but have a slightly more modern replacement, seat trim is fine etc.

Once I get the car up the road and tucked away in Imporium will sort out what shows to attend and what runs and to do.

Looking foR a one off garage sticker for the rear hatch of my Caledonian, similar to the one on OAP. It would be a one off unless anyone else requires a Goudies of Paisley Chrysler sticker. Any ideas where I can get them made? Tried a couple of places but so far no success.

I don't subscribe to the keep it orange- pealy for originality...shiny all the way. I am sure that given the budget, Rootes would have given the cars a decent paint job. My original Stiletto bought in 1968 did shine for about six months then went off the boil. Our cars live in today's world where paint and finishes are far better so why not make them stand out in the sunshine! The car looks brilliant..well done.

For stickers you could try isaydingdong.co.uk

Or this http://retrorides.proboards.com/thread/ ... e-stickers thread may help?

All Clark Dawson's work. To say I'm very pleased with it is an understatement.Have some trim pieces to sort out but bodywork and mechanicals are superb.

And relax........................... Imp009

OAW back at Imporium after a relatively uneventfull journey from Mouldyhills. No issues other than a blown tyre on the trailer. Lucky its a decent four wheel Brian James one and no idea how, where or when it happened. Maybe at the hairpin bend leading up the hill to Imporium?

Got a few bits and pieces to sort out on the dash and trim etc. but the mechanicals, bodywork and paint are absolutely superb.

Mot'd and taxed and on the road. First outing was the Linwood Day Run from the old factory in Linwood. A nice country route around Renfrewshire and Stirlingshire with a lunchhalt at the Oakwood Garden Centre, Killearn and a photo stop at the view point above Lennoxtown. Started off wet but dried out to a nice sunny and pleasent day. About 18 cars turned up, mainly Imps plus a Talbot Sunbeam and two Avenger Tigers. Many thanks to Ian Sinclair for the route and the minor detour!!! Got me too as I know the area well but after others turned, I went with the flow too. Campsie Alps are well worth a visit summer or winter.

Next outing will be Stirling, Hamilton and Errol, then Moffat.
