crossing Siberia

Post by dpilbeam » Wed Jun 12, 2013 12:16 am

Dear all,
I am currently on route across Russia from Vladivostok to Moscow in my 1966 Imp. If it makes it that far, I will head up to Helsinki then Stockholm, Copenhagen and down to the UK. Then its across to Ireland for a sailing championship and on to Perth.

I'm recording my progress on pilbeamimp.blogspot.com

As I spend most of my time driving I am unlikely to reply to any questions or comments you leave here. Sorry.

The roads here are really rough and are battering my poor car about. I still only give her a 60 - 70% chance of making it.

David

Wow - what an amazing journey. I'd love to do something like that, and especially in an Imp. :)

If you do read this at some stage, best of luck, take care, and I hope to be able to buy you a beer at the (inter-)National. :D

Magic! Some of us have trouble getting to the end of our street!
I hope the car makes it mate.

The Sussex AC have a pact that should anyone win enough money on the lottery, we'll do Route 66 en mass :D

I wonder what the roads were like. :) They must have been reasonable because David's made good time, I think. I must check in on his 'blog...

David and the Imp made it through Russia and Finland!
David and sons - Michael (6) & Timothy (8) - just left from here, going south to Denmark, possibly Holland, then Paris, Ireland and Perth.
It was really nice to meet them. Hope the rest of their journey/adventure will be a good one.
David updates his blog almost on a daily basis: http://pilbeamimp.blogspot.co.uk/
Overseas contact, Sweden. -69 Cali (998), 2 -64 Imps in need of "some" work.
Life is full of solutions waiting to be found.

As an Ozzie who has never left these shores, I'm absolutely in awe of Davids achievement. It is doubtful that I'd attempt this feat, even in a brand new vehicle.
