Been a while since I posted on here.
Loads of niggly jobs keep being added to my "must do" list.
Been working through them and have two left....
Car now has its fiberglass engine cover and cross member fitted, I reckon its taken about 30+ kg out the cars weight with the fiber glass seat taken into account.
I tried to get the boot handles to work, but I was wasting time, so went for stainless spring clips.
Looks much nicer with the proper Stiletto boot and square number plate. Also fitted a LED number plate light.
Finally got a rev counter which works with the engine ! and reads high enough.
The engine has two coils and the rev counter is fed from one, so any 4 cylinder ones read twice the actual revs. The engie will rev to 10k+
so the cars rev counter is usually on its stop !
I bought a GPZ900R set of clocks and carefully removed the rev counter and fitted it into a 4" chrome spot light surround.
Really happy with the result.
I took the fire wall out and checked oil, coolant and adjusted the chain.
Checked and adjusted the steering rack as it seemed tight when driving. We had the car on axle stands and the wheels needed quite a bit of force to make then turn initially.
Lubricated really well with semi fluid grease. Much nicer now. Rack needs to come off before MOT as its needs a new gaiter, so I will give it a good service.
The only two jobs I have left is wire in a cooling fan overide switch so I can put the fan on if Im in traffic before its gets really hot.
Then its a reversing camera with 7" mirror display
Why in a Imp ?
Well that nice lexan firewall I fitted is nice and shiny and reflects everything in it. So a car coming towards me is reflected in it and when I look in the mirror, it looks like a car is over taking me.
Not nice !
I have bought wired one with a round camera, as there is a handy crank handle hole in the rear cross member
Bumper is staying off for now, as I quite like the bare look, plus the x member and boot lid need another coat of paint. They are slightly too light as it was very warm when they were sprayed.
Car is coming home in October for the winter, as I want to put my Racing Puma in the workshop and SORN.
Might as well use the Stiletto more as its tax exempt
