VTC 384D The budget hillclimbing Imp deluxe

Image
I have many more pics but they won’t upload, I resize them to 800 pixels wide but still comes up with error saying "pics need to be under 800 pixels wide"

here is a link to my photo bucket where there is my previous and present cars (my girlfriend also uses the same account for work, this will explain some of the photos)

I got the Imp about a month ago and its almost complete, I had a few issues with it misfiring as most of you probably know as you gave me a lot of advice, it turned out to be the inlet manifold, I also had a rear rad with an electric fan and it just wasn’t cooling the engine, the car came with a record custom front rad which I have now plumbed up and in the process of making a cowl for. that car has so many bits too many to think of the top of my head.

The plan for the imp is to have as a toy/hillclimb car, the engine is currently sport spec and will remain this way until the end of next season and then I will re-evaluate

Im also in the process of rubbing the car down as I really fancy it in baby blue which im going to attempt myself, when I crack the picture issue I will upload more pics of my front mount and plumbing as some may be interested

Thanks

Ben, Car looks good. Looking forward to the progress.

BTW any chance you can amend your profile and add your location as I keep thinking you're in California!
If I told you I was a pathological liar, would you believe me?

Ben, that's great work you're doing and this thread has almost brought a tear to my eye! I think you rang me a while ago asking if I had any photos or info about your car, but I don't have any contact details, so feel free to PM or email me via the forum.

I owned VTC384D from 1997 to 2001 or 2002 when it went to Ron at Impspeed as part of a deal which involved the Rawlson spaceframe - it was my first Imp and the best Imp I ever had. We had some real fun with the car and I always loved its colour scheme - looks like you're doing a great job, it looks a lot better than when I had it. I always used to drive it to hillclimb and sprint meetings, rag it to death and then drive home again - and it never let me down.

I've still got the Wilkinson's plastic bread bin that I used for a battery box (£3.50 as opposed to £50 for a demon tweaks one....) if you need it!

Would love to see the car when it's finished.

Cheers,

Gerry

Ah it's good to finally track down the old girl again, I'm not sure if it was you that bought it from me in 2009 with Jez, but I took this when it was towed away on the trailer. I remember taking her back to bare metal in the bus depot where I worked with a drill and a box of sanding discs :)
I then gave her a good coat of Carib blue, ( Ron Aspinwalls original colour )I remember the seats where Corbeau Forza Sports, and the tank straps where old seat belts. I still miss that car today. I got it from Ron as an empty shell with a roll cage and a windscreen, and bought a scrap J plate for 300 quid to take all the bits from. Sadly I came out of work and the coach company asked me to move it for 'Health and Safety' reasons. Pfft

Hey Keith it was me who bought the car off you with Jez!
Was hoping that Ben would get in touch - coz if hes thinking of selling i'd have it back!
Cheers
