update on my 1965 Imp Deluxe.

Post by bornagain-imp » Sat May 26, 2012 5:01 pm

Thought it about time for an update.[imgImage][/img]
Only having a small garage which the imp shares with my Westfield build work is on one side at a time, with the car 2 foot in the air it's allso a lie down job which is good for me at 68
Under front has had all the old underseal chipped off, de-rusted and stonechipped { no serious rust only surface}
all the front suspension, brake pipes and fuel line have been stipped out, new brake pipes, and fuel pipe have gone in.
front suspension has been stipped, powder coated and harder bushes. hubs have new kingpins, brake cylinders and shoes {may change to discs later depending on finances}. Have Malcomb's extra short monte's with Spax adjustable shocks.
Only major rust on the N/S was the sill and rear under corner, luckily the inner sill only needed small repairs.
[urlImageImage]
[urlImage]
more to update later
Rod
just a bit more with the inner sill/outer sill and wheel arch repaired.

Nice! No need to apologise. That's a similar position to the one my ex-wife took up at work, except instead of being under an Imp she was under one of her colleagues!

Love the colour too. :) What's with the paint finish, though? It's matte, rather than shiny. Is it metallic and therefore meant to have a lacquer coat on top? :?:

The bodywork looks good, from your photo.

Sweet ! Hope the electric bar fire is wound right up to assist the paint drying process. I have seen a burger van plugged into the street lamp in the past, on an industrial estate in Surrey. I'm not sure how long he got away with it, it may still be that way as far as I know

Happy new year to you too. :)

The car is looking good! The stud for the oil filter housing is the same as the long studs for the inlet and exhaust manifolds, I believe, so if you have a spare engine or some engine pieces knocking about, you may actually have one already.

When's the big day of the first start up then? :?: Any idea yet?

Going to try and get it MOT'd in February
