Chamois Sport - OAP 760F

Post by classiccapsule » Sat Mar 10, 2012 8:19 pm

Nearly there....

Respray, new carpets, painted the seatframes, new seatbelts (cheers Noddy!), wood relaquered, replaced carbs and exhaust, , electronic distributor, detailed and cleaned the engine, rewrapped the loom, just a few bits left to do....

If anybody has some really nice bumpers and a rear seat base in black, I'm hot to trot, just drop me a line...

Really nice and tasteful mods too, just what I love. What white is it? Looks 'whiter' than Polar White, may be just the photos. Interesting it hasn't got the normal Chamois Sport rear side trims - they normally have a longer stainless steel strip that continues round the rear corners to join up with the strips at the edge of the engine lid.

One small point - are your wiper wind pressure thingies (not sure what they're called) fitted upside down? The way they look in the pic they will not press the wiper to the screen when the wipers are upright.

Many thanks for all the positive feedback. It's not perfect, but it's nice and brings a smile now...

I got the trims with the car, but I had no idea where they went and neither did the body man. It was only when Noddy enlightened me after it was sprayed that I understood. I'll probably take them off at some stage and put the right one's on.

The white is a Mercedes Glacier White. Just what was to hand at the bodyshop as it was a variety of whites previously. He asked me what white, I said "Any white you like as long as it's white!" :D

Good point on the wiper wings. That's the way they had them on the packet, but it was Chinese! I made some chrome and black chequered stickers to go on them, just as a little 1970's kitsch for my own amusement.

I need a set of binnacle transfers and two sets for the heater as the ones on the Stiletto are virtually non existent. If you PM me I'll Paypal you the money...

Tell you what, I can see that plate coming off. If it wasn't a Brummie plate, I'd skim it now. Even the old boy up the road was giving me a tug the other day... :D

Got this car a few weeks ago. Love it. Some very minor bits to do but it is very good as it stands. Done about three hundred miles already, went to Imp Ecosse for a run on Saturday but had to head home due to a family commitment. Entry for Moffat in and a run up the Loch planned for the weekend.
Singer Chamois Sport, Hillman Imp Caledonian, Hillman Imp rally car and a spare. Now got enough space; for the time being.

Good to see more Imps in Elderslie!

Do you remember when there were nine or so Imps at the Manse on the Beith Road?

Also have a 1973 Imp Deluxe which has had the body retorted but not assembled as yet. Will hopefully get it finished some time. Used to own Clan YUP5L many years go. There was a house near the garage in Elderslie where there was a couple of Imps and a Clan.
