The red ones seem very supportive and do have a lot of adjustment and I don't think they look out of place in the imp.
It should be possible to fit any seat with a little welding and fabrication providing it physically fits using the seats original runners.
Karen's sport has a set from a Toyota Corolla - the Piagio Vespa Blue one -2006 Stirling
Just find a seat that you are truely comfortable in (and looks good of course) and have them fitted.
P.S. the Clan is a more difficult due to the width.

Some bad news and some good.
Amy's Chamois Coupe involved in an accident, another young girl ran in to the back of her while she was stationary waiting to turn right.
When she phoned to tell me, she expected me to be upset, but after asking if everyone was all right I asked which side was damaged
yes the nearside the side that hadn't been repaired with a new rear wing. Its due a full rebuild this year.
Last Sunday she tells me the orange light is on narked at her for driving it like that and said I look at it, finally got round to it today
expecting the worst, but it was only a faulty oil pressure switch .

Hi
Thanks for the good wishes. Damage is limited to N/S rear wing, kinked the chassis leg, pushed the boot handle into the boot and the bolt
pushed through the engine mount. Its still drivable so she will continue to use it as is.
Alan, will give you a shout after the 28th Feb and get fuse box sorted.

Checked the girls cars for oil and water today and Amy.s at min. again
Must have a really bad leak? Checked the mileage.
She has done 550miles since last Friday and she hasn't been anywhere.
She did complain about it using lots of petrol as she had to fill it up again
We she will if shes doing that mileage.
Cheque from the girl who hit her car arrived so I guess Malcolm A will be getting a call shortly.

Not posted anything lately on BKS but have been working away.
The front and o/s now painted and the car to be turned around so I can do the n/s.

Plumbing for the front rad nearly complete along with navigators footrest and one for me.
Still gathering bits, refuse to add the receipts up but its not cheap
Today fixed the shelf that fell down so I can clear the bench so I've got some where to lay things.

Yeah well if only I'd spent the £20 on course tuition like you did I might have had a chance...just couldn't get around that top bend without shed loads of understeer.
I've decambered the front now and it has more front end grip but I suppose the reality is that you are easily the better driver ...it's not all about the car that's for sure!

Sadly they couldn't get the minimum numbers required for an autotest at the last national so the organisers might be reluctant to try it again.

You are of course correct but a major contributing fact was the Club was being charged a lot of money for the venue which normally
are free so it was more a case of not wanting to loose money.
A free/cheap venue would mean the club could run with a much smaller number of competitors.
I know the organisers of 2006 & 2008 Track days found it hard work getting people to put their hands into their pockets and
paying up front, on they day they were both major successes. So I guess its down to everyone if something is organised to act
quickly to ensure it goes ahead.
The "autotest" at Stirling was in great demand and provided wonderful entertainment.

I think you do have to play the long game and take a risk, and create a bit of a "buzz" through the forum with event details and structure to keep people interested in the idea of signing-up for the event.
I have to admit that Colin and the team thought we should abandon the 2008 Teesside trackday as early as just after Christmas 2007 because numbers were low. I felt confident that more punters would cough-up when the weather warmed and they felt their cars were gonna make it to Yorkshire. I also responded positively to PMs from our poorer younger/student drivers who couldn't commit the money early-on but I felt were keen to get on track.
All this was helped by the fact that Teesside was a BARGAIN in the general world of trackdays and don't know if that could be repeated even if the National came back to Yorkshire.
Also the trackday naturally appealed to our hardened racers who were very early to cough-up (including Scott!) and it's only through their support that I could pay the deposit on time....I don't really know but I'd guess autotests are probably not so appealing to the circuit racers and sprinters (hard on boxes and donuts and when you have a highback seat in a Clan you can't see to reverse so well! ?)

Time for an update, been busy but progress slow, seems its fighting me at ever turn.

Finally feel I'm getting somewhere with the car. Ducting for radiator done, fuel tank and battery mounted. Will take photos tomorrow.
Cleaned manifold and rebuilt webers, one or two problems but thats it sorted now and ready to go.

Interesting experiment on the go today - fairly new transaxle mount starting to seperate centre metal from rubber so removed it totally
and cleaned both the metal and rubber and then sikaflexed them back together and left it clamped in the vice overnight. Will see how it works out tomorrow.

Fab work, enjoyed following your build, what alternator are you running? and is there any reason to site the fuel tank to the o/s and battery n/s? as most seem to do opt for the other way round? keep up the good work and the posts.

Due to the navigator weighting way more that the fuel it was better for weight distribution.
Originally it was designed with a smaller fuel tank and so the battery vs fuel was about even, however late on it was decided it was too small and
went for a bigger one with the same footprint and put it in the same place. Ideally it should be mid mounted and lower for perfect weight distribution
but as most things in life its a compromise and in my case driven by cost. The silver rally car ran a standard fuel tank and in rally trim the tool box
spares and trolley jack sat on top and it was a lot heavier than the current set up and I never noticed the difference with and without.

Got some painting done today
Unfortunately it was the fence
Plumbing all done - electric pump working and no leaks
Made the air box for the carbs and sorted linkage.
Oil cooler ducting done.
Remote air filter - to be ducted from side window via naca duct.

Modified baffle as previous post with a couple of changes instead of cutting a slot above the oil pick up I folded it over
to provide additional prevention to surge.
The idea was to allow oil to to return to the sump side when oil was above maximum level then I started to think what happens
if the oil level dropped too much oil would still sit on the wrong side so added a couple of extra holes. Most of the oil will return
to the sump via the timing case hole. The flap above the oil pick up may direct the oil surge back towards the pick up.
All back together now, will have to wait now and see if it works.
With plugs out turned engine over to get oil pressure up, filled petrol tank up and primed system. All ready to give it a go and start it
and the battery is flat. Charge the battery overnight and try tomorrow.

I would like to think it will be ready for Imp Ecosse but the good weather means I've got thing in the garden to do.
Lets hope it too cold or wet at the weekend
IM most of the mods are to address problems that I've had such as the remote air filter. Water splashes or dusty events can badly affect
the air filters in the standard location. The exhaust is designed to be both a single or 2 box system depending on what noise level it needs to meet
simply by capping the tailpipe although the 90 degree turn is not ideal.
Relutant to rev the engine too much at the house as I would like to keep on their good side but once the car finished I'll take a video.

Can't believe is 4 months since I posted anything on BKS, thats 1/4 of a year, where does the time go.
The garden was just grass and now its like this, worked on it for 3 weeks and let nature do the rest if only the car was the same.

Now its time to get the Clan ready for the National, quick service, change the doughnuts for the autotest and sort the passenger seat mount.

Well its all finished and competed in 2 events, an autotest and the Saltire Rally I was aiming to do. The car was performing really well, very chuckable
and the Quaiffe diff allowed it to power slide. The slow pick up due to the carb set up reared its head twice on the distillery tests, so need to try the smaller chokes. Broke a couple of teeth on the crownwheel which put us out, having a good time up till then.

3 weeks to one of my favourite events - the Edradour Saltire Classic Rally.
Time to get the car ready, last used it on the 2nd January for the Hangover Autotest, drove it there and the lack of an effective heater was a bit unpleasant .
Today was 10 degrees and sunny ideal for working outside and did wonder if I really needed a heater with winter weather like this
I think the problem is the water takes the easy route and flows through the main circuit and there is no/minimal flow through the heater, so have put a small electric pump in the heater circuit and wired it through the heater blower.
Will see how it performs
Removed the hydraulic handbrake as they are no longer permitted and changed the master cylinder to a .625 from .7 as I did not like the feel got them bleed and adjusted.
Managed to work to 5.15pm before light started to fail I really dislike the short days but there going fast.
Taken after I had packed up for the day

It'll certainly make you warmer!
Be interested to know if the booster pump/heater fan combo (good idea btw) drops the engine temp significantly, especially on cold days.

Lovely day again, 10 degrees but cloudier than yesterday
Got reducer I ordered yesterday to complete the heater circuit. Works very well, started the car (fired first time before it even completed one revolution -having the choke connected really does make a difference) and left it to idle within a few minutes the radiator was warm so switched on the fan/pump and joy warm air emitted from the heater It works so well I think it would be a worthwhile mod for a standard car to improve the heater.
Pump here if anyone interested also available with push on fittings

L-e-c don't anticipate any drop in running temp as using EWP and controller so they control the water temp - only difference is likely to be the EWP working less.
Also changed the way the fuel tank is held in place, rather than held in place by stainless steel straps which are a pain to bolt in/remove I used ratchet straps so that the tank can now be removed and replaced in minutes - made possible because the tank outlets are at the top and can be removed without draining.
Changed the pulley on the alternator from large alloy one to standard as not charging at idle which has been a pain in the past due to the battery going flat
PCT's and autotest and some historic rallies mean the car is sitting idling for a while to keep the engine temp up before giving it the beans
Next on the list is to redesign the cold air box for the carbs, to give more clearance, adding a drain to allow the fuel that occasionally drips from the throat of the carbs and to make it easier to remove.
And one for Meltdown - Exhaust mounted on the rear crossmember but the attatchment to the first silencer is a slip joint
ie the outer just slides over the inner - more by accident than design but it works.

Removed K&N's and started on cold air box but stalled when I realised the arms for the spot welder were still at the imp I was welding up last week.
Back there on Saturday and will bring them home then.

One week to go until the Edradour Saltire rally
Finished the cold air box but took 3 attempts to get it so I was happy
Sorted a few other bits and then took it for a run - pleased with the way it was going
Got a few things still to do during the week including resetting the front suspension.
Also got Amy's new car - Toyota Yaris to get ready - although we have not heard from the insurance yet, her Micra will be written off. She's enjoying running about in a brand new Fiesta hired by the other party's insurance so the longer they take to sort the better
So far the third parties insurance company has been very good, hope the rest is as good as the start, although if I was being cynical its cheaper for them to deal direct rather than us going through an "Accident Management Co".
We went to look at a number of cars and as soon as she sat in the Yaris she knew it was the one . There was another customer interested in the car at full retail and explained to Amy that it would be better for the dealership to sell to him rather than us at trade price. So Amy says well you'll just have to offer him sexual favours or something I went to talk to the guys and to find out the story and get the keys for a test drive and looked outside to see her standing next to her sister with the bottom lip trembling staring at us Anyway we got the car without any extras.

Finally got a mo to read some other threads...
Looking good I arrived at the same idea re. non-slip sheet for pedals, way cheaper than anti-slip paint and a damn sight less messy to apply...may need to resole the race boots occasionally, though.
