Ace Cafe Classic Night- Tues 8th Jan

Postby skamanfrank » Wed Dec 05, 2007 8:00 pm

Anybody fancy it?

Baz, Paul, Ben I'm looking at you guys and of course anyone else!

It's classic night at the Ace, I know Baz has been to a couple before. Always good fun. Winter means that general turn out will be down.... HOWEVER.... this particular Tuesday is the Retro Rides Awards Night (just an informal RR meet to announce the winners of this years forum awards) so there should be some of RRs finest turning up. Was just thinking it would be an ideal night to meet up with a few of you lot as well :)

I'll be there for sure (it is every so slightly possible in something old, Britiish, but not imp but sssssssh, just talk/idea at the minute  ) so if anyone else fancies it let me know!
Cheers
Frank

Ben,

If you go along the NCR from the A40 after about 1 mile take the first slip road off the NCR, at the end of the slip turn left then immediately right at the 't' junction and the Ace is on your left.

If you come the other way past Wembley etc take the first slip off the NCR after the railway bridges that go over (they have Ferodo written on them  ). At the end of the slip turn right and pass over the NCR. At the 't' junction turn right and the Ace is on your left.

Sounds good but can't be done as that is the rearranged evening for Stevenage Area Centre - 1st Jan didn't seem like a good idea - partly because the pub will be closed!

OK, so here's the photos - it was dark, my camera isn't the best in poor light and I'm not too good at taking pics anyway.

Was a very cool little meet today. Shame there weren't more imps. I would have loved to turn up in FAF.
Also I think I may have broken Boris the dolomite on the way home. I'm guessing the oil light isn't meant to come on at anything below 3k rpm  :?
Cheers

Nice pics, baz! 8) I wanted to be there but haven't had any time to work on the car. Plus the usual money thing post-Christmas! Some interesting and varied cars, though - if not enough Imps!

Oh yeah and those Cortinas are GORGEOUS!

Yeah, you could be right. I'm sure someone said it had one, it was certainly 'whistling' like it had one.

As for Madge, she needs a respray, not polish. As a good friend once told me, "You can't polish a turd".

whistle

Postby Keith 'Supaimpy' Laming » Wed Feb 06, 2008 4:38 pm

or a flat plane crank, on a V8 makes them rev better but also makes a very distinctive sound, used to be a TR8 around here that had a janspeed built motor in and that really whistled

I'd love to go at some point, but it's a really long trek down from these parts. Will have to see what money's spare for the petrol after the racing season's over.

Yeah, that sounds a great idea David, it'll be towards the end of the year though. Not sure what car i'll have by then OTR, but I'm fairly confident it won't be too modern.
