Going IRELAND 2008

Post by Impduivel » Sun Aug 26, 2007 2:13 pm

Hi All,

Bit early to say so, but was hearing that there's a Going Ireland
to be organized for next year in 2008.
Is there anybody that allready can confirm in any case of date's
and or place to be held at.
Will be definitive to go and arrange the day's of work in advance.

Regards, Robert

Robert

All I know is this, which is the letter which will be in the Oct mag:

eventsnewsandreports
The Irish Experience – update
Lough Ramor Caravan and Camping Park, near Dublin, Eire, 22nd-25th May 2008
John Sheppard (Ireland Area Centre Co-ordinator), Oristown, Co. Meath

Further to Gill Dunkley’s piece on the Irish Experience in February’s Impressions, the dates have now been finalised for 22nd-25th May 2008. The venue has also been decided: the Lough Ramor Caravan and Camping Park which is 50 miles nort-west of Dublin, half a mile off th eN3, four miles south of Virginia, Co. Cavan.
As mentioned in Gill’s letter, there will hopefully be a ferry discount but this is still unconfirmed.
More details will follow in January.

It would have been in the Sept mag but I only received it at IMP 07 which of course was after the copy date for Sept's mag.

I have put this in my diary and wil have to discuss this with the Finance Minister. We did Southern Ireland last year after Scandanavia and would love to go back and look at more of it. Probably would have to do it in a rental though but for those in Imps my previous trip showed the roads to be ideal for them.

...not too far from Dublin. Maybe Val and I will fly in!

I haven't been to Ireland yet, and Val hasn't been there since she met up with Rosemary +10 years ago. Sounds like a vacation to me!

Trust me getting out of Dublin will be the hardest part of your journey
try and do it before the morning rush hour or late at night, not the most
considerate or careful drivers any other time.Once out of dublin on the right road N3 it is basically a straight run

Just looked at the map - any pre-history loving Imp owners fancy a quick run over to Newgrange as part of the trip?

If you want to come over and have a competition car, the first round of the Irish Tarmac Championship kicks off in Feb in Galway the main field will have anything up to 30 WRC's from the latest Subarus S12B to the 06 Focus, on the back of this is the Historic championship.
If you have a proper rally car, 3 layer Suit and one layer underwear, approved FIA seats belts and Red Dot helmet, get over I guarrantee you will not have to drive around one cone.

You could come over a couple of weeks early to the North coast and enjoy the North West 200 motorcycle races.
