Absolutely. They will be published in Impressions, as per usual, along with full report and photos.

I handed over all the paperwork to Kimberley after the Award Presentation, but I'm sure we can post something a little earlier than October.....I can remember a few - such as Colin Valentine winning "Best Husky" and son Chris Valentine getting "Best Competition Imp", but remembering them all would be a trick beyond my fuddles brain ;)

I'm not sure Kimberley is a Forum user, to be honest. So she may not see this thread at all.

Im sure Grahame will agree with you there, the mag at one time was the only medium that folk could find out whats going on in the club, without the mag you didnt know anything, now I think with folk chomping at the bit wanting to know things as soon as its happened I fear it will appear elsewhere long before we get the magazine, such as things are these days. :?

You can't have it all ways : the lack of a September magazine isn't going to sate people's desire to know. I can't see the problem with posting it on here to be frank. Those at the National were party to it if they were in the marquee at the right moment. Its even possible that non-members were in attendance too. Get it on here and FB as soon as. It doesn't need to be a secret

Hmmm - its not a secret, though, is it? Everyone who was at the awards presentation on the Sunday saw and heard my attempts at announcing the results.....and anyone who paid the entry fee to the event had the opportunity to vote, so there is no particular reason why they should be denied the opportunity to see the results, even if they aren't a member and won't therefore get the magazine.........I've just seen the photos taken of all the award winners so I guess a few of them will appear in the magazine in due course, if Grahame can manage to crop me off some of them ;)

(and of course Andy has beaten me to some of these points!)

If I had a written list, Richard, I'd be the rebel I'm always accused of being and post the results. Even at the risk of offending my mate Colin. And to my mind, seeing the listing again in Impressions would only add to the magic :D

The lack of the September issue is irrelevant. The National Report has always been in the OCTOBER issue to give people ample time to send in reports, letters, photos, etc. Far from it being a secret, as Dave suggests, a delay simply takes pressure off the organisers who deserve a rest after the event.

If you do post photos etc on social media I would ask that you also send some into Impressions. Many members do not go on social media; they deserve to see as much about the event as possible in the mag, especially those who were unable to attend the event. Impressions is seen by all members, social media only by some.

Patience, people!

I agree Grahame. Lots of people don't use social media, nor the forum. But I don't see that as a reason for not posting on either medium either. The Impressions reports only add to the information and give a broader perspective on the event. It shouldn't be the ONLY way we can find out.

Get them posted and stop this my way is better than your way nonsense.

Andy, you have misread my post and are being a little rude with your 'my way is better than your way' comment. Please read my post again. I said: 'If you do post photos etc on social media I would ask that you also send some into Impressions.' I did NOT say do not post on social media, that would be unrealistic.

Not being aggressive any more than others being sensitive. Just because something has always been done a certain way doesn't make it right, nor progressive. Somebody asked the question as to who the awards winners are. Simple. It just needs posting. Simple. Here we are, I'll start the ball rolling : I managed a third in Modified/Personalised. A surprise, but welcome all the same. Gillian Hill won best Imp Based I believe with her yellow Siva Llama. Brian Gray also had a 3rd place with his red mk1, presumably rootes Imp. He will correct me tonight at the Sussex AC mid month meeting.

What about members abroad eg. Roy in South Africa how long does he have to wait for the post
It is the official in Club site you don't even have to post pictures just a list

Good. About time we had a bit of clarity here. By the way, those members who only have the magazine for club contact won't miss out will they ? They will still find out at the usual time and probably won't give a hoot who found out first !

Best Cali went to Nikki Butt
Young Imper went to James Williams for raising the Imp profile with the magazine and online coverage his Imp has attracted and for his excellent work in creating Imp interiors.
Keeping up my personal record my car won b*gger all!

Karen and I have been trying to remember some:

Best Cali could have been ONLY Cali

Only three vans so 1st Rick Wilson, 2nd Me, 3rd Dave Andrews

Derek Beatty took the Rosemary Smith Trophy with his Chamois

Sue and Andy Ellis took the well deserved outstanding contribution to the club for their work on regalia (new regalia officer urgently needed)

Can think of others but cant remember all in class or order. Im sure a full list will be published soon enough.

No Pete, it won't be soon enough. If we lose people like Dave Lane because of the short sightedness of a few who seem to believe that the way things have always been done is also the way for the future, the Club will not last. This year's National was great because there were changes to the norm. One of them being the announcements of 3rd, 2nd and 1st place winners in each category getting called in one sentence. Saved an awful lot of time, hand clapping and ultimately boredom setting in. It was all over fairly quickly and to the extreme credit of all those involved. The rest (apparently) isn't history. Next year I intend recording the whole process and shouting it out from the top of Ben Nevis. Then the whole world will be a wiser place and the stuffed shirts can get, well, stuffed. It's a darn good job that we have a fab group of youngsters coming up who can shake the tree.

Thank You, Mr Benoy. 8)

MUCH appreciated by all. And well done to all of those involved, especially those tasked with counting the votes. And a special thank you to Sue and Andy Ellis for sticking with regalia, against their better judgement, for an extended period. Plus a big up to the award winners, especially the young guys. Great work Rob and Dom, Peter and James 8)

Good to read of the award winners, shame about the angst that has been caused in the mean time - it can be hard to convey tone in the written word; I doubt any serious personal criticism was intended here.

For better or worse communication is a multi-channel affair these days; social media, website/forum and magazine, and each has their place. Even knowing the award winner results I will appreciate reading the reports written in the traditional manner that go into more detail than the other channels.

Yeah, thanks, Simon - only got a copy of the awards from Kimberley yesterday - came on here (or tried to!) to post them and of course the Forum was down for its upgrade.....I should have checked before the weekend and I'd have found them. ;)

If anyone is reading this thread and finds out that they won an award but didn't know it, I do have a couple to send out - so if you think its you PM me and I'll discuss how best to get them to you - they are glass so a bit fragile! :)
