National 2019 - Area centre needs

Post by keanej » Tue Jun 04, 2019 9:02 pm

What the organising committee would like to understand is, in an ideal scenario what would area centres like in terms of space planning on the camping field ?

If you can post below answering the following questions

1. What is the size of your gazebo/mini marquee ?
2. How many tents from your area centre normally camp around the area centre gazebo ?
3. Do you prefer to have the gazebo in the camping area or would a separate gazebo area be preferred ?

Included in the question is oversees and Yoof groups (Dom that means you ), if anyone can speak on behalf of other clubs fine, otherwise we'll contact them separately.

Responses so far from
Sussex
Cheshire Set
South West Wales
Chiltern
Yoof
Dutch ( assumed usual numbers)
Norfolk & Suffolk
Northampton & Coventry
Clan Owners Club

No response is required from area centres that don't bring gazebos and don't want to camp in a group.

Cheshire area gazebo is 3m by 6m.
I'd imagine that it'll be the focus of the organisers camping area this year!

Sussex AC will need room for our 4 x 8 mtr Village Hall, please. Our ACO will be or already has been in touch regarding this.

Thanks.

Sort of!

In the past, when we've been at Rugby clubs and other venues where there isn't a vast amount of free space, it's been necessary to organise the camping somewhat. Some folk don't like the "pitch in order of arrival" used to save space as they prefer the more organic "camp around the gazebo with your mates" sort of a weekend.
So, this year we will have rows marked out for "independent campers" to make best use of space. Also, if folk do as requested and pitch with their car(s) next to the tent, rather than in front of it, the vehicles provide an effective fire-break between tents and a bit of an acoustic screen between the tents. So if you happen to have pitched next to the captain of the British Olympic snoring squad, at least they're 6m away and there a vehicle between you! :) It also won't seem so crowded and they'll be less chance of tripping over guy ropes and what not.
There is also another area for "gregarious campers", so that those who want to be part of a temporary village with their mates can still do so.
The purpose of this exercise is to allow us to work out how big this space needs to be, as it's not been done before and we'd just be guessing.
We are trying hard to keep everybody happy! 8)

So please do respond here if you want to camp together with some of your friends. It's not a problem if we know in advance.

As a sort of combined Area, us folk from Norfolk and Suffolk usually camp together (quietly), but it's really only one large tent and a couple of smaller ones around / beside it. There will certainly be one less this year anyway.

Northampton AC will be 3 or 4 tents together, with a 3x3 gazebo serving as a kitchen & communal area for non campers. There will be other Northampton members scattered in various locations across the site, who are welcome to join us!

Now added to the site plan!

But a bit more notice would have been useful.
I think we're are going to have to declare this booking facility for area centre plots now closed.
