IMP ECOSSE 2020

Post by Jim 'Saltire' Fraser » Fri Mar 29, 2019 4:48 pm

IMP ECOSSE 2020 MORTONHALL CAMPING AND CARAVAN PARK, EDINBURGH
Event organiser, Jim Fraser, Joint Edinburgh & Fife ACO

I am please to announce that I have already secured the venue for Imp Ecosse 2020. After three years of hotel based events, I thought it would be nice to return to the original camping site based format for this one. The venue is one that we used back in 2012 and is situated just a few miles outside Scotland's capital city of Edinburgh and just a few minutes from the A720 Edinburgh bypass.
On the weekend of Friday 24th April to Sunday 26th April, Mortonhall Camping and Caravan Park will once again play host to Imp Ecosse and the site has plenty of accomodation choices to suit all tastes. So whether you like the idea of glamping in wigwams or shepherd huts, relaxing in residential caravans or bringing your own touring caravan, motorhome or tent, Mortonhall will be happy to see you enjoy their wonderful site and facilities.
The site manager, Andy Wallis, remembers us from 2012 and was very happy to have us back for the 2020 event. He has kindly agreed to provisionally book off almost all of the onsite accomodation for our members and recommends booking by telephone on 0131 664 3137.

Jim, last time Ecosse was held here, there was an optional coach tour of Edinburgh with a lady guide describing what we were seeing, and taking us to an amazing viewing point. I thoroghly enjoyed it, and would be more than happy to do it again.

Hi Gill, sorry for the late reply but I hadn't seen your post and Scott Clements mentioned it to me at last nights meeting.

I didn't do the open topped bus tour of Edinburgh as I was later in arriving, but from what I remember, it certainly proved popular. I might make some enquiries and see if it's something we could consider doing again.

Update as per impressions article, December 2019

Hi all, first off, a wee update on the accommodation options for Imp Ecosse.
I've been in touch with the site and I can now confirm that all 20 static caravans at Mortonhall have been booked. I had originally reserved 15 of these but they were snapped up very early on and Andy, the site manager has let us have the remaining 5 as well!
The 3 shepherd huts have also been booked out so that only leaves the 8 wigwams available. There are plenty of touring pitches with electric hook up for those looking to bring there own motorhomes, caravans etc and of course room for tents for the most hardy of us in the Club, please contact Mortonhall if you wish to book. https://www.meadowhead.co.uk/parks/mortonhall/

I've also spoken with the Klondyke Garden centre which is located at the top of the drive into Mortonhall as they have a restaurant and provide breakfast, ideal for those who don't want to bother cooking. They have agreed to set aside a breakfast room for us and I have negotiated free teas and coffees for those having breakfast there.

Those who attended the last Imp Ecosse at Mortonhall in 2012 will remember the excellent Stable Bar which is located on-site. They provide evening meals and I have booked the function suite for our Saturday night social. The Stable bar is dog friendly so our four legged friends are welcome too!

That's the grub all sorted then, just the scenic runs, raffle, quiz, trophies and the decent weather to organise!!! More updates soon folks and I look forward to welcoming you to back to Edinburgh.

regards, Jim

Imp Ecosse 2020 Important Booking Information

Hi all, I just wanted to remind everyone that has made a booking with Mortonhall Caravan and Camping Park to FULLY read the information regarding their bookings, in particular the two statements below that appear near the bottom of the terms and conditions.

“All balances must be paid in full no later than 6 weeks prior to arrival”

“Failure to pay the balance by the due date will result in the cancellation of the booking. All monies paid are non-refundable”

Please remember to bring your booking confirmation details along to their reception when booking in as well.

Following a phone call to confirm the above, I was also advised that a further 3 residential caravans are now available for the Imp Ecosse weekend. These are 3 bedroom caravans and can only be booked for a minimum of 3 nights at a cost of £80 per night. Please contact Mortonhall by phone on 0131 664 1533 to check availability and remember to quote Imp Ecosse or The Imp Club.

More information next month on the scenic runs etc, not long now.............

Regards, Jim

Just wondering if anyone has on site accommodation who is willing to let me have somewhere to sleep on any potential spare space they may have then please PM me to discuss the possibility of that.

I'm house trained :D

Better phone them about paying balance! Not obvious about the 6 week rule as its half way down on page 2 of 5 terms and conditions! (which I didn't read)
I assumed I paid balance on arrival as nothing on confirmation page of booking
