Supplementary question - what sort of Rootes history would still be at the site?

No, but I was an apprentice there in the seventies! :D

Great to hear that the Ryton site is being put to good use.

Last time I drove past it looked pretty sad and barren. Works gates were still recognisable mind.

It's a huge site. They can't be using all of it. it would easily take a test track which would allow the cars to be exercised safely. :D

I wonder whether they will develop part of the site then to an off roading course/centre as well for the Land Rover owners, they give you a free day at one of their other centres around the country when you buy a new one so you can see what it can do, so if its a huge site they could do this as well?

I spent a day at MINI in Oxford when they building my car to see the process, and even if you take someone with you who is not particularly interested in cars as a whole just seeing how they are build from scratch will interest anyone, any factory visit is well worth doing.
