Imp Ecosse 2019

Imp Ecosse March 2019
It’s still a long way off but members like to plan ahead so here are some facts about Imp Ecosse 2019.

Ecosse always happens around Easter, usually before as Easter marks the start of the Holiday Season and this is where the problems start. Easter is a movable feast and in 2019 it falls on the weekend of 19-22 of April with school holidays the first two weeks of that month.
This makes it near impossible to book venues at the end of March/beginning of April as holiday makers fill the rooms of hotels and pitches of camp sites (the start of the high season). This pushes Imp Ecosse into the weekend of 22nd March and this is no time of year to camp out or even motorhome in Scotland. We have done it before but we are all a good bit older now.
As a result I have booked accommodation at the Cairndale Hotel on English St. in Dumfries DG1 2DF. The hotel offers double or twin rooms, family rooms, a limited supply of single rooms all with a DB&B tariff of £110/double and £79/ single. The hotel also boasts a swimming pool and spa with beauty treatments for those who like a relaxing weekend. You can also relax in the well-stocked bar areas!
If you are interested and are planning to join in the fun of Imp Ecosse please contact the hotel on 01387 254111 and state that you will be with the IMP ECOSSE party as the hotel have pre booked rooms for us.
The weekend will possibly follow the traditional format of runs quizzes and raffles with perhaps one or two surprises thrown in for good measure as Dumfries and Galloway can surprise most people.

Just to confirm, although weekend of 22nd is "no time of year to camp out" that is the weekend for Ecosse?
Not a criticism, just want to be clear. :D

Hi All, looks like you have all taken my advice and booked early (although there will be rooms aplenty) as there are 36 rooms and 66 people booked in already! Looks like I will need to print off more paperwork to meet demand.
Hope you all had a great Festive season and are getting those marvellous wee cars in good fettle for Ecosse.
See you all soon and there is plenty more rooms to be had.

Don't need you have an Imp on the road or even own one to attend Imp Club events, ideal chance to get to know other members.

All raffleprizes gratefully received. Just bring what ever you want and hand in at registration. All proceeds go to pay for the weekend. It also goes toward the entertainment if the prizes are wacky.

Hi All,
It's not long now before the start of Imp Ecosse at Dumfries (22-24th March) at the Cairndale Hotel.

When I checked recently there are 38 rooms booked by members but I also know that there are members attending who have booked other accommodation. As a result I know who are booked into the hotel but I would like all people who are not booked into the hotel to drop me a line so that I can prepare the necessary route paperwork.

Can I please ask all who are coming, but not booked into the hotel, to drop me an Email at wiskids@talktalk.net so I can prepare.

Looking forward to meeting you all

The runs leave at 11.00 am on both Saturday and Sunday, with the Judging of the cars at Annan Distillery from about 12.00 on the Saturday.

Hope this helps anyone planning on visiting for the day not to miss us.

The Cheshire and Warrington posses are heading to Ecosse in convoy on the Friday, 22nd March. Meeting at Charnock Richard services, M6 northbound at 10:00. Were going to take the M6 to north of Lancaster, then take the A6 for the fun bit over Shap, then back on to the M6 just before Carlisle.
All welcome to join us.
Let me know if you're coming, in case we have to wait for you!
Cheers,
Bob.

Simon - Where are you travelling from ?

I reckon it will take us an hour from M6 Charnock Richard services to Kendal so 10:00am to 11:00

Then another hour at the most from Kendal to Penrith

So Penrith around 12:00 - 13:30 if we leave Charnock at 10:00 !

Sounds about right. I think we'd get there at noon at the very earliest. Could be a fair bit later!

Right that is me ready to leave for Imp Ecosse at Dumfries so there will be no more updates from me.
The registration will open on Friday from 2pm and the dinner in the evening will be in the Solway Room from 6:30 for 7:00pm.

Hope to see you all there and have a safe journey.

Better get a move on and get the Clan ready but I've only got 80 miles to Dumfries so still time to do it tomorrow just adds to the excitement

Weather looking good, some sunshine on every day now :D

I am trailering the clan too
From googlemaps there seems to be plenty parking round the hotel
Where are you planning to park/ stash the trailer ?

There is a one way system through the car park, the entrance is quite tight, certainly wouldn't be trying to turn right into it with a trailer so watch your direction of approach and make sure the entrance is on your left.

It might be worthwhile stopping outside and checking it out first, it was tight when we did the route checks but the car park was very full that day.

Hilda is also on the trailer ready to go .. just need to put the cases in the car tomorrow and we'll be ready to go. Aiming to leave at 6am - to arrive around lunch time/early afternoon. Hoping the M5 & M6 are not too busy..
