Post by bazzateer » Fri Nov 17, 2017 1:40 pm

Apologies if I've missed it elsewhere but is there a confirmed date for Ecosse? (Need to book my leave).

Very confusing, when I looked at their website on the 17th Nov there was no availability. I've since heard a rumour that rooms are going fast and yet I was led to believe no bookings were possible until announced in Impressions.

Anyone care to confirm what the actual reality is pretty please? :)

Baz

If you checked on their website only and not available could it be because of a block booking for the Imp Club weekend and to stop non impers booking ? Try phoning.

Speculation only as I don't know.

I can confirm that the Links Hotel was fully booked as of last week. However I spoke to a very pleasant lady in the hotel reception who told me about the Park Hotel (01674 663400) which is nearby so we have booked there. See you there!!

Similar problems so we are in the Star Hotel nearby. Not sure why the arrangements aren't being publicised to all the club.

Hotels were a bit expensive and reckon the North Sea coast maybe a tad cold in April, so we've booked a cottage for 3 nights, a few miles outside of Montrose, sharing with Roy & Dawn - arriving separately on the Friday.

Looking forward to our first foray to Imp Ecosse.

Hi Phil,
It will be great to see you and Lesley again.
I live on the East coast and it's not too cold in April.
The further west you go into the mountains is where it gets colder.
You'll enjoy the weekend, it's a great part of Scotland.

Imp001 Imp001 Imp001 As organiser of Imp Ecosse 2018,can I ask you to ignore all previous posts and mis-information by others not involved with the event. The Links Hotel is not yet fully booked and there are still rooms available,7 twin or double and 4 single rooms as at today(30 Jan).Details of how to book were in January Impressions and were quite clear. Phone the Links on 01674-671000 and say it is the Imp Club booking.Special rates are £110 per night Dinner B&B for 2 people or £65 for single room. And when the Links is full, you can book the adjacent Park Hotel.there are 93 rooms between the 2 hotels so there is plenty space for all.
And the weather on the east coast of Scotland is always good with more sunshine than many other places! We plan to put on a great event for you.
Any more questions ,let me know.

Nearby ? Is the event not being held at a camp site as it has been in previous years ? I haven't been since 2011!

What is the camping situation (tent) ? I am interested in coming this year but don't want to be camping of 'site' as such. Hope that makes sense! Cheers

Being a hotel based event, unfortunately there is no campsite adjacent. The nearest is the South Links holiday Park about half a mile away and close to the beach.Tel Angus Council on 03452 777778 to book.

I can confirm that there are rooms available at the Links Hotel and I have just booked one. However, when I spoke to the hotel on 6th December I was told that they were full so I provisionally booked into the adjacent Park Hotel hence my post that the Links was full. I am sorry if I inadvertently mislead anyone but that is what I and others were told by the Links reception.

I must admit to being as sceptical as Dom about not being on a camp site.
But last years was brilliant. Its still the same atmosphere just in a different setting.
Those that were there will know what I mean.

I really don't know how I kept myself from bursting into laughter when they tested the fire alarm. Or how I resisted asking if it should not be a semitone higher...

It was far classier than that Torquay hotel. I must have slept through the alarm though!

I just booked another room at the Links Hotel (Canadian cousin can't keep away!)

They told me they have reserved all rooms for us, which is why anyone looking online, or at booking.com or the like will be mislead into thinking they are full.
Telephone bookings can still be made.

As at this morning (Feb 8th) they have 6 rooms left: 3 single and 3 Excutive Kings.
Price for the single with breakfast AND Table d'Hote dinner is £65 per night. Bargain!

I have just booked one of the single rooms for the Saturday night as this is the only night I can make it due to work.
So that may mean there is only 2 singles left at the Links Hotel now as of today.

Cheers

Today I have taken the last of the single rooms.
It seems that the venue now only has one of its bigger rooms left.
I'm very pleased with the way it has been organised.
If the hotel did have any concerns over holding their business in limbo for the club then I doubt they will have any regrets now.

Imp003
Thanks to all who booked so far with the Links Hotel. As of last night they had 5 rooms left and once they are full, they will put you in the adjacent Park Hotel at the same rate.Just phone the Links on 01674 671000 and say it is the Imp Club booking.
It would be helpful if you can let me know direct that you are coming and I can send you more info in advance of the event.

Left home 6.20am. Two toilet breaks and 500 miles later I arrived at the hotel at 2.20pm. Happy with that..
All at 39mpg and mostly 70mph too. Said some hellos and had some chats, going to have a nap now, it's what us old folks do.

Whatever you do, don't ask Phil what time he got up ;)

An excellent weekend, great scenery, great runs, great roads, great accommodation, great company.

Thanks to all the organisers.

Just a few weeks until Going Dutch, must get the Chamois welded and MoT tested.

A big thank yo to the organizers from me too. Well done all involved.

I was only there the Saturday night but thoroughly enjoyed myself and the first one I have attended in an Imp :D thanks to Paul Coulter(Shawl) who gave me his 1974 Imp Super a few weeks ago so two of his Imps could be there and I was able to drive it upto Montrose from Dunbar. Without any issues I may add.

As Roy Orbison sang .. "I drove all night, to get to you .."

We arrived home just before 21:00 - so 12 hours with a few stops (so about 10.5hrs driving).

We had a great time at our first Imp Ecosse, meeting old friends and making new ones. The scenery and roads on the runs were fabulous - many thanks to Gordon and Alan for organising a great weekend, and too all the Impers who attended. Some photos to follow tomorrow.

And a big thank you to whoever arranged for the weather to clear up and be so sunny..
