Oldtimer meet - Biatorbagy, Hungary April 22nd

Post by hazzah » Mon Apr 24, 2017 3:11 pm

A few Hundred cars turned up for the annual Oldtimer meet in the car park of an out of town shopping centre.

Two Imps, about 15-20 minis, a Rover 2000TC, a Spitfire Mk 1, MG Midget Mk I, a couple of MGB's, a landrover, Reliants, an E-Type, a Silver Shadow... then loads of Beetles, Trabis, Ladas, Polski Fiats etc... and lots of special German, Italian machinery.

And NONE of the people looking at my car are saying anything like..."These overheat...", "The head gasket goes on these...", "That sport lid isn't standard..." etc :) . The Imps were really popular. Lots of photos and looking inquisitively in the engine bay.

Any totally by surprise the Mini Club of Hungary sponsored an award, and it was awarded to my Imp... a pleasant and welcome surprise.

It was a good day. And... a surprise because an ex-Imper turned up to say hello, Andy Bud. Whom some of you may know well.

Excellent! Sounds like a lot of fun! 8) Consider writing this into an article for Impressions. The international perspective makes it that little bit more interesting still.

I know of another ex-Imper called Andy living in Hungary, he's in Budapest.
If I told you I was a pathological liar, would you believe me?

That is one and the same. He mentioned you, and even favourably as well :)

From now on, I have decided to keep on sending him car porn. As he claims he cannot have a classic at the moment. But we all know you can join but never leave...

He did make the mistake of mentioning a weakness for a Zaporozhets. So sent him this... just under GP 3000... lovely colours...

The journalist who is renovating an Imp has a Trabant rallye car. 32 BHP up from 25 (I think). Lovely car.
