Mikey

They havent responded to us either, so we're taking a trip out there next week. Roy rang them a few times and they said they couldnt book as they didnt have a calendar as far ahead as September, yet Drew told us on the weekend that he booked months ago over the phone. Seems to depend on who you get to talk to.

Re: lack of response from the Rising Sun to bookings for WWW2017

Neither Phil & Lesley or I have received anything back from them (my e-mail was sent on 13th January - and a subsequent telephone call didn't produce any confirmation). As a result the Cardiff section of the South & West Wales a/c is shifting our monthly meeting on May 17th from the Unicorn in Cardiff to the Rising Sun at Pandy so we can sort it out on the spot (see area centre info). If you have tried to book and have received no response can you let me know (PM probably best) and we'll try and find out what is going on.

Neil - hopefully you are OK with this - I don't want to tread on your toes but several people mentioned the lack of response whilst we were at the Full English and I think it needs clarifying (also - I don't want to waste a lovely 'Friday run' as tried out yesterday!).

Cheers

Re: Wicked Welsh Weekend 2017 - Rising Sun campsite bookings

Postby RoyBlunt » Wed May 17, 2017 10:34 pm

The South Wales a/c held the monthly meeting at the Rising Sun tonight (as a one-off change from the Unicorn) and we confirmed the WWW bookings made so far.

The following people had contacted me previously to say they had received no response from the Rising Sun. All are confirmed as being booked in:

Gill (room booking)
Baz Blackmore
Andy Smith
James Henderson
Phil Smith
Roy Blunt

Other people who have booked pitches so far:
Tony Dowler
Bob Hawes
George Clarkson
Drew Thomas
Rob Cooper
Mikey Hearne

Hope that clarifies things.

WICKED WELSH FRIDAY RUN UPDATE

Postby philgsmith » Sat Jun 24, 2017 6:53 pm

WICKED WELSH FRIDAY RUN UPDATE
Just to whet your appetites - we've just returned from trying out the options for this year's Friday run. Had a great time with our fellow South Wales Area Centre members driving along some good Imp roads.
As promised, by popular request, this year's theme will be "The Wicked Cider Trail" which will include visits to 2 cider farms with free tasting, followed by a visit to a farm which makes the best ice cream I've tasted in years.
Please see photos below - we felt that we had no choice but to try out the quality of some of the ciders on offer to make sure they were up to scratch. There were loads to choose from (many more than at Weston's and no limitations on the number you could try). It's a pity I was driving really but Philip enjoyed himself. My favourite was a rather nice sparkling cider which tastes like Prosecco. Happy days!!!
More details will follow closer to the date.

Now the National is over really looking forward to the Welsh next month.
Not sure what I'll be bringing yet, hope to have the Chamois Sport available but will need to fit a tow bar if I want the Slagroom.

There will be an article in September Impressions about WWW2017 outlining some of the runs etc. I'll post it on here as well to coincide with the arrival of Impressions - plus put a note on Facebook.

Looking forward to a great weekend and welcoming lots of Impers, old and new to WWW

Just back from driving the WWW Saturday's run I've got planned.
There will be organised runs with route instructions on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Friday and Sunday will be shorter afternoon runs and the Saturday will be an all day event.
Saturdays run is about 135 miles in total and I've tried to use roads that we haven't used on recent WWW's
It will take you from Pandy through the rolling hills of Herefordshire to the bleaker moors of Powys and back to Pandy
Here are some clues as to where we are going

Due to our impending move to Devon we will unfortunately not be at Welsh this year.

This means there will be a room available at the pub.

We'll be posting a general announcement over the weekend about WWW2017 - coinciding with the Impressions article.

Have you rung them John? They are useless at confirming online bookings despite wanting to handle all of the bookings themselves. We will be visiting them before the event but its worth you calling them to check your booking.
