We went with Roy & Dawn to meet with the pub owners today to sort out final arrangements. The owners are still adamant that they will not accept gazebos and event shelters. We will see how this year goes, considering feedback from those attending, and will make a decision over the winter about an alternative venue.

We mentioned that there had been negative feedback regarding gazebos to the owners. They said that they really enjoyed last year's event and when we suggested that we may have to look for another venue the owner suggested a compromise. There is an area at the bottom of the site which will be ours for the weekend. This includes an outbuilding measuring 20ft square which has 3 solid sides and a roof. Impers who would like to set up a kitchen here can do so. We will be erecting the Club gazebo in this area and we can move some of the picnic benches to this area for our use. This area will be used for the Sunday breakfast and the Show & Shine awards. It will mean that we have an area which will be covered and can be used for seating for the whole weekend.

We have a list of campsite bookings and will be helping to site people on arrival on the Thursday and Friday morning. Late arrivals are not a problem but we would like to stress that you need to book with the campsite beforehand and not just turn up.

We hope that everyone will understand that we have done our best regarding this problem, and we'll have to see how things go.

Looking forward to seeing everyone.

Weather's looking a bit pants for the weekend. Doubt I'll bring the Slagroom Room so more likely to be in the Chamois.

BBC weather looks better. Will leave decision until last minute, either Chamois and tent or Vogue and Slag Room.

It'll be good to see you Simon. We'll leave some copies of the Friday run in the club gazebo for people arriving after we've left on the run.

A quick reminder that if anybody would care to join us, John Keane and myself are meeting around noon at the Midway Truckstop on the A41 for lunch tomorrow, then heading down to Pandy.
All welcome to join us.

Midway Truckstop, Prees Heath, Whitchurch SY13 3JT

Route will be A49 to Leominster, then Three Cocks, Abergavenny and Pandy.

Also, if anybody has any "spent" parts for reconditioning by Imp Club Spares (e.g. clutches, brake shoes, radiators, water pumps), I can pick them up at WWW and drop them off at Bob Allan's place on my way home

Cheers,
Bob.

Looks like the rain may stop around 2pm so a mid afternoon arrival is what I'm aiming for. Probably going to be Rej and the Slag Room.........or maybe Chamois and smaller tent ....... decisions decisions.......

Great weekend, huge thanks to the organising team.

Much was different to previous events, not least the lack of the Gurners. Please come back next time guys! A few other regulars were conspicuously absent too.

Rej misbehaved on Friday when his downpipe separated from its flange. Thanks to Terry (jubilee clip), Roy (wire) and Bob (tools) I was able to bodge it enough to get to the Rising Sun. First thing Saturday dropped him off with the guys at the Skirrid garage and they executed a superb repair for not a lot of cash - great guys.

Sunday's run showed a failing clutch operation which was due to lack of fluid. Not sure where it's leaking yet, a job for the Winter. Thanks to John for the loan of some fluid (I'll let you have it back when I'm finished with it mate!).

Wet trailer tent and awning packed away and a trouble free journey home. Now I need a few hours of dry weather so I can dry it all out.

Roll on Ecosse!

Just a quick note as I enjoy a pint of ‘Silly Ewe’, courtesy of Gwatkin Cider, to say a massive thank you to Roy & Dawn, Phil & Lesley and Peter for stepping up to organising a fantastic Wicked Welsh Weekend and for making us all so welcome.

Having overcome a few difficulties with the host venue the team put on a superb event with some excellent runs. The road book was excellent as were the all the other bits of info in the Welcome Pack.

Dom was great on Saturday night; the quiz was brilliant – how many of us saw a Transit van on the picture quiz? The Naffle once again provided a great source of hilarity and who’d thought Felicity Kendal would have been the star of the show and I wonder if Chris W has sneaked her LP into the bedroom yet.

The runs and the stops chosen were great with some interesting stops en route – The road around the Elan Valley was the highlight for me and a run over any part of Epynt is always pleasing. Goytre Wharf was an unexpected bonus on Sunday afternoon as was that Indiana Jones bridge on Saturday!

For those who stayed on Sunday night it was all rounded off with a superb meal and great hospitality at the nearby Park Hotel, while the Rising Sun lost out big time as they were closed…

Thanks to everyone for their good-humoured banter over the weekend – you are truly great crowd, and finally thanks for the many positive comments about my newly restored Imp at its first club event, and of course special thanks to Malcolm for his help is getting it running better for me.
It was a perfect shakedown even though I now have list of bits to put right next month.

We managed to do a very brief WWW this year. About 4 hours on the Saturday evening. Everyone I spoke to was having a great weekend even if the venue owners seem to be slightly difficult.

Well done to the team who organised this years Welsh. We will be there next year.

Thanks to the organising team for another great WWW!

Didn't do the runs this year as I was too tired and just wanted to catch up with family - also had to change a donut on VTB which would never have made the run.

Can't wait for Ecosse!

On behalf of the organising team can I say a big thank you to everyone who attended this year's Wicked Welsh Weekend and made it such a fun event. Special mention must be made to those who helped out - Bob Hawes & John Keane (event shelter), Mikey Hearne (PA system), Dom "the new Dynamo" Smith (Quiz and Naffle compere), and Karen Fitzgerald (Naffle ticket sales). Gill Hill and John Fenton provided refreshments each day with their Olde Tea Shoppe from our caravan awning.

The weather was generally good, and although we did have some rain, each day cleared up nicely. As a result the scenic runs improved as they went on and we returned in good weather. The run to the Elan Valley was brilliant even if I did miss the turning to the narrow bridge, so sorry for that to the group following us who ended up driving through Builth Wells. The result being that we beat the leading group of faster cars to the Elan Valley !!

I have counted over 40 cars attending the event over the weekend which was terrific. There were a few that just turned up for the Sunday Show & Shine, but I can't recall a single day tripper on the Saturday run, which is unusual. So it was a good turn out although the pub seemed a bit quieter than usual on the Saturday night. Certainly less people ate in the pub on the Saturday.

There are many photos on Facebook and I hope that people post some more on here so that non Facebook users get to see them. I'll be posting some of mine later, however I had a flat battery on Saturday, and as result there are only a few to chose from.

Quite a lot of people arrived on the Thursday which starts the fun early. The Friday run was to a garden centre for lunch to be taken, welcomed by those arriving that morning. Then we drove up and down the Golden Valley (Herefordshire), stopping off at Gwatkin Cider (where Baz ended up repairing a blown exhaust) and Ty Gwyn Cider where the owner gave us a short and amusing history of their cider making. Samples were tried at each and bottles bought for later. Unfortunately we didn't make it as a group to the ice cream farm as it closed early, although Peter Doherty managed to get their just before the lock slammed shut on the door.

Saturday was the run to the Elan Valley. Despite being damp in the morning with some light rain we had a great run up to Rhayader via Hay on Wye and Builth Wells. The Elan Valley mountain road took us beyond the reservoir dams and we met up in a car park near a river. Then it was down to the dams with many people stopping to take pictures of these impressive structures. We stopped for lunch in the Visitor Centre and lined up the cars in the overflow car park - an impressive line up that attracted the general public. After lunch we headed for Pandy via Upper & Lower Chapel. We stopped off for a pint at Llangynidr alongside the canal.

Saturday evening saw the quiz and Naffle. The quiz went well, especially the picture sheet which drew much discussion especially from those who thought there was a Transit in there. The quiz was won by Sue Ellis' team by half a point from a team whose name cannot be repeated(!!), except to say that the team had Chairman James, Jason, Baz, Drew and Bob in it - enough said. The Naffle produced a lot of fun especially Chris Wittering getting the Felicity Kendal keep fit record (not video) that he so desired, much to Caroline's disappointment. Dom compered the quiz and Naffle and make a fine job of it controlling the unruly elements and adding fun to proceedings. At the end he miraculously found an extra prize under the table, and drew the ticket which was won by Dawn Blunt. When she opened the box it contained a red stiletto to match the one that she won last year - well done Dom and your accomplice Drew.. It was great to see Dom as the young Imper's representative taking a central role in the evening.

Sunday started with the new WWW breakfast. Due to the pub not serving breakfast to campers we set up our frying pans and cooked bacon and sausage rolls at the Club gazebo. This brought a lot of people together for a laugh and joke and was a great success. The Show and Shine that followed saw a large number of cars lined up on the site road and drew in a few visitors. I was hastily handed the announcement duties and winners were duly awarded their prizes, with Andy Smith being so excited that I was given a rather large kiss on the cheek! There was also a lot of laughter when Dawn tried to wear her new red stilettos.

The remainder of the day is always quieter due to people leaving for home. We'd arranged a short run in the afternoon, stopping at the Goytre Wharf canal centre for a lunch and then a short tour around Usk, Raglan and back to Pandy. Unfortunately we had a few more mechanical gremlins with Sue Ellis' car losing indicators and wipers (fixed by Jim Fraser) and Sarah Liscoe's Husky getting a stuck open throttle which Peter fixed. So everyone got back OK in the end. A small group made the short trip to the ice cream farm.

The event ended with 24 of us going to the Park Hotel (1200yds up the road) and having a lovely meal, in a room that they had set aside for us.

The general consensus was that the event pack was a good idea, although some people seemed to think that the run start times were an approximation. The mileages were spot on proper miles too. Leaving the event logo on display on the dashboard gave us free parking in the Elan Valley. Thanks to my daughter Emma for helping with the logo.

It was nice to see new people attending, and we hope that it lived up to everyone's expectations. It is nothing if people do not attend. We certainly enjoyed ourselves and it seemed that everyone else did too.

Thank you.
