Looks like it's going to be a cold, noisy, and smelly weekend.

Wonder why we are at the opposite end of the hall to all the other Rootes clubs? Are we the noisy smelly ones then :?

That'd be the Sporting Bears as they offer rides in a huge range of classic cars in return for a fee for charity.

They have the hall doors open so it can be draughty and quite noisy when certain sports cars are running, not to mention the fumes occasionally wafting about.

To answer the Question asked by the Nun ,we are among the younger section of classic car owners , namely the Young guns,Tr youth register, Morris Minor owners Young register, Oxford Uni Motorsport foundation etc.

I'm sure it will be a fantastic stand as usual, and hopefully it will win an award.

Nice to think IMP owners are classed as the younger generation type and not put with all the old fogies then

I think it's a great location for the stand. It will be busy with people heading to the wheelers dealers stage and the sporting bears. Hopefully this helps create interest in our favorite small car. I agree I may be noisy at times but hopefully it won't be too bad.

I agree with Jame's comments , and the best thing to do is to be there and savour the show atmosphere !
who knows by the next show we may even a Young timers section in The Imp club and have two stands just like the Morris Minors and the TR's.
All it wants is to get that side of things organised.

Thats a jolly good idea, great if it could be done, is there anyone young about to do it?
Although a "Young IMPers" section could be mistaken for the toddlers play group. and playing games on egg boxes, :?

Anyone who has booked tickets using (exclusive club ticket offer codes from club magazine) please hand there stubs into Richard or Dale on the stand. The club can claim £1 back for each stub handed in at the end of the show. We look forward to seeing you over the weekend.

HSCC stand at the NEC.. http://www.necclassicmotorshow.com/hscc-show-nec has a couple of Historic Touring Cars on display.

Is the Championship winning car on the Imp Club Stand? ... Certainly worth celebrating/publicising..

See you Saturday ...

Sorry, my race Imp is already stripped down (and had a few battle scars!). Not an ideal time for a race car...

Sunday is the day they give the awards out normally if you want to see that, or see any live build events get finished off, but maybe Saturday is best if youre looking for any spares bargains before theyve all been snapped up.
If youre purely interested in seeing the club stands then either day it doesnt make much difference.

On that basis, does Sunday tend to be busier? Or are they pretty similar?

As far as I am aware, for a number of years now the awards are given out Saturday at the end of the day. The trophies can then be displayed on the stands from first thing in the morning.

Best day for first dibs at the autojumble is Friday which is supposed to be press day, however it is more expensive to enter the show. There is also the possibility that there will be a smaller crowd on this day but that doesn't necessarily follow.

If you want to help out the organisers, who will be well tired after 4 days on their feet, with dismantling the stand, then Sunday is the day to go.

In the last 20 years the awards have been given out on Saturday. Fridays tends to be the busy day with Saturday and Sunday more or less on par.

Just back from a great time helping out on the stand and enjoying the show. Very busy all weekend and lots of interest in all the Imps. Met some great people including a former owner/driver of Rosemary's works Imp and new member FO Steve YB from Essex, great bloke, great sense of humour!

Thanks to Richard and Dale for organising things.

Highlight for me was being asked to pilot Rosemary's Imp from the NEC prior to it being serviced by Clark Dawson later. I feel genuinely privileged.

Pics later.

Edit: PICS!

The stand looked fab - and busy! Sorry we couldn't stick around to chat more but having Ben with us meant we had to keep moving!

One observation - I think our banner/flag needs updating for this show. It gets "lost" due to its size shape and colour - those sodium lights make anything white go a strange grey/yellow and the green becomes less strong. The banner flags used by other clubs have a better impact - and especially those that use a different colour background. We struggled to find the stand initially - in this age of everyone and everything vying for your attention I think it's something we could improve on.

Not a criticism - hope it's taken in the spirit meant. :-)

Good to see so many familiar faces - and to those we didn't say hello to, apologies and "hello ".

Thanks for the constructive comments Tim we shall see what can be done . We are at the limit height wise as far as health and safety go for the flag pole maybe illuminating the sign would help ? . I agree with you about the lighting the sodium lights are awful .Sorry I couldnt stick around and chat as you say we were very busy.

So Sir Stirling showed up, did he? Probably wanting to buy an Imp - the small car he's probably been promising himself since they came out. :P

For those who don't know, Ant asked club reps 8 classic car questions and i got 1 right! Luckily the other 3 reps also only got one right. it gave me a chance to talk about the Imp club to the audience. We came second to the Stag club on the audience vote.
