Imp Ecosse 2016 Accomodation

Post by gill » Fri Oct 02, 2015 4:06 pm

When Impressions arrived today, I telephoned Loch Ken Holiday Park to be told that their static vans are all fully booked for the Imp Ecosse weekend in April.
Just as well, really, as daughter had already booked for us!

So here is the place we stayed at last time that was 3.6 miles down the road:
there is a 5-bed self catering cottage (about £255 for 4 nights unless it goes up in the New Year), and they also do B&B (£35 per adult per night).

Airds Farm, Crossmichael, CASTLE DOUGLAS, Dumfries & Galloway, DG7 3BG
Telephone: (+44) 01556 670 418, Mobile: 0788 023 5659, E-mail Address enquiries@airds.com
web site http://airds.com/

They were very friendly and helpful - provided somewhere under cover for G's motorbike, and didn't mind us having more than one car.

Thanks for posting that Gill. I also phoned the park on the 4th and got the same reply. However thanks to you I am now booked at Airds Farm who have been very pleasant and helpful.

Hi All,
As has been said the statics are all gone now and the wigwams which were able to sleep six with a wood burning stove have been sent back to the makers as they had developed a fault.
This accommodation is being replaced with some sort of "Glamping" alternative and as soon as I know what it is I will post on the web and Impressions.
There is lots of camping available and pitches for touring and mobile homes all with power etc.

There is good accommodation at the Galloway Activity Centre which is just a short distance up from the Loch Ken site with twin &four berth cabins, heating and power points. There is also an on site café where meals can be had at all hours during the day.

Sorry for the lack of accommodation but I think it was the faulty wigwams that have caused the statics to be booked so quickly.

Evening all;

I have provisionally booked up the 3 bedroom cottage next to the site for the nights of 22nd, 23rd and 24th April, this means there will be 2 twin bedrooms spare if anyone wants to go 3rds on the cost?

Hi all, Can you please send me the numbers in your party so I can plan catering and road routes etc. Also can you give me any dietary requirements e.g. vegetarian/vegan for the same reason. Other than that, hope you are all looking forward to the event in a really nice part of Scotland. You can get my email in Impressions under the Glasgow ACO address.

Many thanks

Roger,
If you have any spare places, I would be interested, as I haven't done anything about Booking yet, and I seem to be getting too old for camping.
Please could you send me details, if there are any spaces left.

Also Note to Ian Sinclair(wiskid)
I am planning to come to Ecosse.
I don't have any special dietary requirements (I presume the usual fried MarsBar is not a Special Order)
PS If you know of any other caravan /Chalets with a spare place, please let me know.

Cheers,
Colin Valentine

Accommodation spaces have now come available due to cancelations.

There is 1 double room from Friday to Sunday B&B and also
1 twin room from Friday to Saturday B&B.
Both can be had by phoning Airds Farm on 01556 670 418 or e mail enquires@airds.com
The accommodation is at Airds Farm Crossmichael and only 2 miles from the loch Ken camp site. It will also be very handy for the Saturday evening meal which is also at Crossmichael.

Just been on to Airds Farm and the double room is still available if anyone is still looking for accommodation. Just give the farm a ring at 01556 670 418 and you should get fixed up with a highly recommended B&B.

Unfortunately I don't think I'll be making this imp ecosse. I've had no spare time over this winter to go over the imp due to a family members health so it's sat untouched since November :(

Cheers iain

Late in the day I know but because of promises that have turned to nothing and emails that go unanswered then there is a caravan share available for up to 3 people. If anyone is interested PM me for more details.

Just had an excellent weekend at IMP Ecosse.
Despite pretty dire weather forecasts eariler in the week Fri & Sat were sunny and bright, if a little breezy.
Sunday was much the same, but we did have a couple of showers during the day.
This all contributed to an excellent weekend, thanks to Iain and his merry bunch of organisers.
Friday evening was a drive into nearby Caatle Douglas for some food, drink & chin wag.
I counted over 30 IMPS & Variants on the Scenic Runs.
The Saturday Run took us via Kirkcudbright and along the Coast Road (A75) to the excellent Visitors Centre at Kirroughtree Forest Park.
A fairly impromptu Concours was held in the Car Park.
The return route was through some forested areas and minor roads through Creetown, Gatehouse of Fleet& Laurieston, aback to camp.

I stayed at Airds Farm B&B which I would recommend to any future Ecossers, if like me you were too late for one of the caravans at Loch Ken.
Which incidentally was also excellent. I was very impressed with the caravans and the site location overlooking the Loch was great.
I was sharing the Twin Room with Bob Hawes , and there were several other Impers there, so breakfast was very sociable.

Sat evening was a Dinner, Quiz & Chatter in the Cross Michael Village Hall.
Then we adjourned to Gill Hill's caravan for a drink & more chat.

Sunday was the Drive It Day Run to Drumlanrig Castle where were allowed to park in front of the house.
Many people stayed on for a meal in Castle Douglas, but I decided to return home to spend Monday back on the Rally Imp rebuild.
It is a longtime since I re-built a car from such a basic condition, and I'd forgotten how much detailis involved in retoring idividual parts befor bolting them back to the shell.
I'm pleased with the work so far and hope to have it together by National.
Thanks again to Iain and his crew for another good Ecosse.
