When they announce all leave is cancelled it means you can't apply for any and anyone on a rostered day off can have it cancelled. Although they can cancel registered annual leave they rarely do as it costs them a lot of money. People have been approached on holiday by local police and told to go back to work.....

Neil,

When you pop in ask Tracey to check her emails, I've got quite a few Commer peeps coming the May Day weekend and need a lot of hook-ups but haven't had a reply to recent emails.

Will we see you again over the weekend?

Baz

My old boss landed in New York on holiday with his wife, turned on his phone and got a message to call the office urgently. He called them and ended up on the next plane back. It does happen.

How about something more adventurous and longer? Last Sunday did the Taith Cymru scenic tour that started in Hay on Wye and 130 miles later finished in Penderyn and could crib some of the route as it was really good.
You could go from Pandy to Hay over the Black Mountains. Then up to Hundred House and on to Crossgates for coffee in Cafe. We did a loop further north and around to Rhyader but could cut that out and go straight up A44 instead. From Rhyader past the reserviors for lunch at visitors centre
SDC17162.JPG
Penygarreg reservior
You could then go straight back to Abergavenny via Builth,Talgarth and Crickhowell Or even better a more westerly route and take in Epynt like we did on Sunday.
I could even do a proper tulip road book as have most of route done! Or anyone for a night run!!!!!!!!!!

A night run? But that would mean no socialising in the pub.

as long as the run gets back at a decent time to clean up and there is a definite lunch stop. Last year we misunderstood and thought the optional pub stop was for lunch but it was actually nearer half five. I was shattered and we had a slight disagreement in the car which created a nice silence for a while lol.

Looking at these post's it looks like I had better make what ever run this Year a lot shorter, it's supposed to be an enjoyable run out not an endurance event!
Roy and Dawn Blunt have very kindly offered to sort the Friday run again this Year,I'm sure Roy will be along shortly to let us know what they have planned.
Keep the idea's coming as to what you would like for the Saturday run,Llandovery was good because there are plenty of eateries allowing you some sustainance to keep you all going on the gruelling run.
I personally think we have done Llandovery enough for a Year or two but if people want to go back there then that's fine with me,we could always change the route into and out from Llandovery to make a change of scenery?
The main problem is the sheer number of cars we have to park in one place at the rest halt...er I mean lunch break :D
What about a trip to the Coast?

Route I suggested would be less than 140 miles but accept the point some people may have diven a long way to get to venue and dont wont another long drive despite there being great scenic roads just perfect for Imps here in Wales!
Neil, I agree give Llandovery a miss this year but yes problem with finding suitable venue to fit all cars.
We had about 65 cars out last week end but set everyone off at minute intervals You will be surprised except at lunch and coffee stops I only saw a few cars all day. I know it is not how we do it at WWW but the long convoys get a bit of a pain in my opinion both for those in convoy and other road users
The discussion will continue no doubt and can never please everyone so ultimately your decission Neil (no pressure then!)

I was joking James :) There are some fabulous Coasts in Wales unfortunately none are either within distance or no scenic way to get there....
Having to cut the route down a bit maybe, loads of people where...knackered after last years run,I did notice that Myself.

Yes, coast is too far unless you go to the Severn estuary (no thanks). I'd go with Peter's idea, modified to a suitable length, and a decent place to stop.

The problem with Big Pit is that they have to delay entry to even out the timing of groups underground - plus it's only a handful of miles from Pandy.

We've had initial thoughts about the Friday run with Roy & Dawn and it will certainly be shorter than 100 miles. The initial route thoughts look to be about 65 miles. There is still a lot of planning to do though but it will involve a run, stop for a comfort/refreshment break with something to look around, and run back to Pandy. Last year's run was delayed in Newport traffic and at the Transporter Bridge so we're looking to avoid that sort of situation. People also said a refreshment break would have been helpful. The basic route idea has some nice scenery and is mainly off big roads to make it interesting (especially for people who have spent the morning driving on motorways).

Maybe a different town then the last couple of years.

Hello Gurn.
Id be up for Peter's run. A 100 Welsh miles would be fine by me. But then it's only about 150 real miles from Chateau Bob to the Rising Sun. I appreciate that others aren't quite so local.
Setting off at intervals is fine if you've got a navigator, but a lot of us will be on our Todd and therefore it's good to be able to be part of a convoy and not worry about getting lost!
Cheers,
Bob
