RACE RETRO 2013

Post by Colin Valentine » Mon Dec 17, 2012 9:41 pm

It is that time of year when info is coming in thick and fast.
Race Retro is at Stoneleigh from 22-24 Feb.
It is a good Event for those interested in Club level Motorsport.
As opposed to the F1, WRC and serious professional stuff which is at the Autotsport Show at the NEC.
Entry Prices are more reasonable to.
For Peter James Insurance Users there is a Discount Code, just quote PJRR2013 to get a discount on the ticket price.

The Event features a live Rally Stage with group B cars and some big names.
The prices are more reasonable than than Autosport which is at the NEC.
See the website for more info.
Maybe someone else can add any IMP connected interests.

I've wanted to go to Race Retro for ages. :P I'll take a look at the site and how much it costs, etc. nearer the time. I shall be sans Imp though because I have yet to begin its restoration. :(

Hey guys, i would really like to come to this! and i was just wondering if any one from the Gloucestershire area was going who might be able to give me a lift! would be amazing if some one could take me, and i could supply petrol money if needed!

If failing that, would any one be able to pick me up from the station which is 5 miles, 13 mins away from the event, and then drop me of there again at the end of the day!

the train journey is 2 hours long, with 2 changes from Cheltenham to Coventry

Thanks allot guys :)

I am pleased to confirm that the Imp Club will have a stand at this show to celebrate the 50th featuring 5 motorsport related Imps. So if you are interested, it is probably worth getting advance tickets at a reduced price. For anyone insured through Peter James, there is a discount code for a bit extra off, as they are a sponsor.

The show runs from Friday 22nd Feb to Sun 24th Feb. There will hopefully be more details in the next Impressions but waiting till then would leave only a short time to investigate. See the website at www.raceretro.com for more information.

If anyone has a rally prepared Imp that they would like to run on the live action stage, let me know by PM and I will contact the organiser's.

Cheers - Simon

Always a good show, much more "Clubbie" than Autosport.....usually plenty of autojumble type stands, but the hall they are in tends to be very cold - think unheated barn ;) - so wrap up warm :)

Just a reminder to anyone thinking of attending Race Retro, there is a discount code on advance ticket purchases for Peter James Insurance clients:

For Peter James Insurance Users there is a Discount Code, just quote PJRR2013 to get a discount on the ticket price.

Planning is going well and our exhibits are now all finalised. If you read my note in Impressions, please note that it is only children who get in for free on Sunday, not adults! My wording could have been clearer..

Look forward to seeing members there.

Hi all.

Just read the thread about this event and sounds a good day out. Never been to Stoneleigh before, so I've just booked tickets for me and the missus on the Sunday. Also booked the night at the Stoneleigh Park Lodge for £58 b&b as we are off on the Monday so thought we'd make a good day of it.

Only my second event with Imps since being in the Imp Club after Matlock, so will try and say hello to any fellow Impers on the Sunday. My Sunbeam Sport is still work in progress, so may be after some tips and advice to get my car on the road.

Cheers

Paul :)

I'll look forward to having a chat then Simon thanks.

I must say that the lodge looks in the perfect spot and thought I might struggle to get a room when I enquired today, so I'm well happy!

OK - all packed for my holidays! Setting up on Thursday and talking Imps Friday - Sunday....

Should be good - you can't beat a few halls of historic motorsport with some great Imps thrown in for good value.

Scott,

The whole show is full of desirable cars - there are 4 Renault Alpines, a Ford RS 200, a chevette HR2300, Fiat Arbarths etc all in view from our stand and lots more further afield - hopefully I will get chance to have a look round, but I spent quite a lot of time today talking to interesting people.

Hope some more pics are posted to see what we're missing sat at home :D Chevette is that the HS or HSR always liked the HSR better with its bigger arches and wheels :D. I'd also find room for a 131 Abarth in my garage :P

Great day yesterday.

Well done to Simon and Richard for organising a great club stand.

Regalia had a productive day.

Also Bill spent most of the day with us.

Other than our stand there is loads to see and some fantastic machinery to drool over.

If you're not sure about coming to the show get yourself here!! You won't regret it!!

A sight I'll never forget from (I think) Autumn 1978 - I was on the computer night shift at Fiat in Brentford. I wandered down to the eerily quiet and dimly lit workshops at 3am on 'lunch' break for a look around and stood transfixed as I surveyed six perfectly lined up 131 Abarths - the entries for the RAC Rally, including the cars of Markku Alen and Walter Rhorl. Three were in Olio Fiat blue and yellow livery and the others in Alitalia white/green/red.

They were all unlocked........... :D :D :D :D :D

I was only a bit late back on shift... 8)
