RACE CAR LIVE, BRANDS HATCH 20-21 November

Post by Colin Foster (heaps) » Thu Oct 21, 2010 10:20 am

We have been offered display space at the above event for 5-6 cars, given the time frame I dont know this year if it is possible but have asked that we are kept on the database for next year. Does anyone with a competition car want to attend bearing in mind it is for 2 days!

If good response i'll coordinate

regards

Would be a great opportunity to promote the competition side of the club. I should be able to supply my race Clan. How about other active competitors?

Sadly I cannot make this weekend, but I did have my car on display/parade laps at the final BTCC round at Brands and there was a lot of interest.

I wonder if I could get mine done and prepared in time... Mind you, it's not a race car yet coz it's not been raced - by me, anyway.

Its beginning to look encouraging, thanks Pete, Col, and Paul. Rob has been in touch with 2 cars and if the worst came to the worst I could stick mine at the back although it makes no pretention about being a competition car unless you count a couple of navigationals. I would like to get one more, so please anyone else who can commit to that weekend plesae let me know. I'll start looking at banners, publicity etc. Anyone got any ideas for a stand?

Ok, forms have been sent to the organiser and am awaiting replies for a couple of questions, we have 6 cars which I think is fantastic. All I need to do now is find some more banners, bunting ,flags, anything to dress up a 10 x 6 metre area, i've got a gazebo so shall bring that for a bit of shelter if nothing else, if anyone has any ideas I would be really grateful as i've not organised a stand before.

Colin,

As I'll be towing down with the motorhome we could put that at the back of the area and use for cover and hot drinks. I believe it's a 2 day event so I would probably be looking to stay overnight and can therefore keep an eye on the cars.

Thanks Pete, cover and hot drinks sound ideal, last year was brass monkey weather :D

There is 24 hour security on site and a secure area for the trailers so a couple of questions answered.

Hi Colin

It would have been great to bring the car up to Brands, unfortunatley the completion has been delayed due to my wife taking her final accountancy exams.

I made a promise to stay away from the garage for a couple of months. I now have all the bits but no time !!!!!!!

I will try and pop up over the weekend to see you.

Thanks all, forms are in and they'll be in touch nearer the date. I've asked for 20 tickets, thats 3 per car which I dont think is unreasonable plus 2 over. If you think we need more please let me know and i'll ask them, they seem quite accommodating.
If anyone can think of any other suggestions for a stand. Colin R suggested the cars are in a start line grid formation, which I think is a great idea and i'm going to ask the art dept at school to make start lines out of marked acetate and will try to find chequered flag/union jack etc. Anyone got any banners local to any of us that we could borrow?

Colin,

I've got Gurns' Imp Club banner (had it on permanent loan since WWW 07). I'm sure he won't mind it being used.

Home now after a very cold day at Brands, there was a good number of people interested in the Imps on show including the son of the guy who made the Rawlson panels.

Here's a couple of pics:

Thank you to everyone who made the weekend, despite the cold weather. It was nice to meet up with people and have interesting chats to visitors about our cars and have the Imps featured on the RaceCar live website. I hope everyone made it home o.k and hope that we may be able to do a similar stand with more cars next year
Thanks again

A cold and wet weekend but a great bunch of people. After my success with the two crank and block problems I think next year we will have to a diagnostic stand! Perhaps I'll be able to sort out the head on my engine by then and do a few more laps of the circuit. If the event runs again next year I'll also be willing to fit a passenger seat for circuit rides for those interested at a small charge to be given to charity.

Pete Richards.

p.s Colin why not sort your clutch forever and fit an AP cintered one. Fit anf forget.

Colin,

The face of your flywheel will need machining to fit the AP clutch, along with somes holes drilling and tapping. I can get the details off one from the garage or will check the AP data I have and see if that gives the details.
