Parts for Reconditioning
Just as a reminder there are a few bits that if you have them lying around in the garage it would be nice to bring to the National for recycling. Bob Allan (Imp Club Spares), and I am sure the other spares bods (however I have only confirmed this with one, so check before bring items) would be delighted to have the following bits for reconditioning:
Water pumps
Clutch Friction plates
Brake shoes
Clutch Covers (These are now very rare)
Go on do your bit to keep the imp alive.

........... so who wants what bits.......... so we know who to give it to at the weekend.
Also, Malcolm expressed an interest in Old Radiators last year so he had enough on standby for High Efficiency replacements...........
Who else does HE rads that might like a few old ones? ? ?

Certainly Bob Allan and Malcolm, as i have spoken to them, in terms of the above. Bob did specify not scrap, same probably applies to Malcolm. However, i am sure any of the other guys that provide these items and get reconditioned units would like these.
In terms of rads i would check with the individual before bringing it along. This is a good point as i have one i need to get rid of.

Re: Recon Spares
Hi max, don't think it is any sort of favourtisim, more than they are certain suppliers that are more active in terms of putting out requests... and that users of this forum happen to have spoke to the above mentioned, in fact there is nothing stopping any specialist using this forum for requesting parts...some are registered forum users as for sharing out it does already happen, though remember there is sometimes quite a bit of rivalary between them!maxheadroom wrote:Is the Club reluctant to actually name the other suppliers?
The Club (and this forum is part of the Club) should not be seen to be favouring any Supplier over any other. All of the parts suppliers are members of your Spares Panel, perhaps the Club should get together with the panel members and have a central collection for the parts you want returned and share these out amongst all the spare parts providers and not just a select few.
Anyhow here is the link the the Spares Panel:
http://www.theimpclub.co.uk/spares/node16.html
I will make Bob Allan aware of you comments, in case he wishes to organise a central collection point.
regards
Si

Re: Reconditioned parts
Ok Point noted... i will ask Steve B to remove reference to non club spares suppliers. However ordinary users of this forum who are not on the club committee and more than free to promote/mention/pass on requests from others, whether they be specialists of not... so if you wish to pass on requests from specialist please do so..maxheadroom wrote:Then the individual companies should be placing their own requests for items for reconditioning. Remember that not all suppliers are members of this list, and may not have the time/inclination to participate.
Requests from club commitee members should only relate to the club spares organisation.
as a side note when I organised IMP02, I was shocked to find that a number of imp specialists seemed to think it was the job of the club to make them aware of business opportunities... and that some are not even members of the club!

The only reason it mentions Malcolm is that i have spoken to him and he expressed some concern on collecting these parts for recontition. In addition i lose track of what all of the people do in terms of reconditioning, and maybe if they were mentioned they would end up with a pile of junk to take back that they were not plannning on. I am sure that most people are aware that there are other suppliers, and will probably take their returns back to their supplier anyway.and i am sure the other spares bods
Furthermore I don't see this as a commercial issue, it is a matter of maintaining spares availability. Most of the spares guys do work together to ensure that there is a supply of such items.

I think the bottom line is, if you've got any of the parts listed above, bring 'em along to National if they're reusable. Best thing might just be to find Bob and he'll be able to point you in the right direction. I really don't think there's any need for the backlash, personally. This one is about keeping Imps alive, not making individual suppliers money.

Re: Parts for Reconditioning
Bump ????
Just scanning this thread, quite a bit of check before you bring etc,
My suggestion, bring what ever you've got and have space to carry, then offer it to your preferred supplier(s)
If none of the suppliers want it , eg, its beyond recovery as a core unit,
then simply take it home again, and dispose of it in a responsible manner.
In the unlikly event of a massive glut of returned units , the nearest supplier could do two trips to take them back?
or a supplier with transport difficulties for their return could get them taken back by someone in their area centre ??
I feel its a case of better to be looking at them than looking for them.
Who is the nearest supplier to imp10 ?
