A bit of advice needed from the tuning gurus.
I’ve just swapped my R20 cam in my head for an R23
Checked all the tappet clearances and they come up as
1 (inlet) 13 thou
2 (ex) 13 thou
3 (inlet). 13
4 (ex). 13
5 (inlet). 13
6 (ex). 13
7 (inlet). 13
8 (ex). 14
Will these be ok. Or do I need to get them smaller?
The book states
Rallye 12 inlet & 14 exhaust?
Been over 30 years since last shimming a cam up?
Thanks in advance

Re: Tappet clearance?
Hi, if you have a look https://www.imps4ever.info/tech/camshaft.html it seems the exhausts ar OK but the inlets are on the wide side. Hope this helps.

Re: Tappet clearance?
I did think 6-8. As per the Haynes manual. But it also states 12-14 for the Rallye? Will do them at 6-8. Thanks guys. Much appreciated.

Re: Tappet clearance?
All R series cams are 6 to 8 inlets and 12 to 14 exhaust - ie aim for 7 thou inlets, 13 thou Exhausts.
