racing imp info????

Post by dannyimp » Sat Apr 27, 2013 7:18 am

Hello, I am doing up my 68 imp and am very keen to make it a fast road spec lookalike racer. I really like John fyda's agra imp but am struggling to find pictures and info of this or any similar cars. Anybody know where to find this info and also the best place to buy body panels ie front spoiler and wide arches. Any help greatly received.

Thanks danny

Mine's a lookalike racer too! :) Well, at the moment, it's more of a lookalike skip but I can dream. :?

Malcolm Anderson sells body panels, spoilers, wide arches, etc. Other Imp specialists do too - Impspeed, Corley Conversions maybe and one or two others.

Any photos of your project? I haven't looked under Readers Cars yet...

Try here (clicky). I haven't progressed it for a couple of years now but it is getting sills and a restoration to the floor and lower panels, then working my way up the car.

She looks nice Paul. How id like to head with mine but obviously with the look of the agra. Do the engine mods you've made make a big difference to performance? I'm not looking to do my engine yet being new to umps I want to get her on the road and get used to her first and upgrade the handling side first too

Thank you. :) It'll look a lot nicer when it's got proper sills on it and any rot that I find cut out.

Oh yes! It's not the nicest road engine, to be honest, although it copes okay in traffic and bimbling about. But open her up and, at anything over 3,000 rev/min, she snorts and snarls like a ManiacImp ought to. Anything over 4,000 and it's really quite quick for a humble 930 cc motor. I've only used up to 9,000 :? but am assured that she'd be safe to 10,000. I doubt I'll be going there, though.

Hi Danny,

John Fyda still runs his company Agra Engineering in Dundee and still rebuilds imp engines.
He is a busy man but still likes to talk about his imp days and can be contacted on the Agra Engineering website.
He doesn't have many photos but will tell you about his extensively modified imp.

Regards Alan
