What Size Wheels????

Postby Leedy » Thu Sep 20, 2012 10:11 pm

Hi all. I am in the process of building my imp. I have a Rawlson front end and Rawlson rear wings. I am after the largest size wheels to fill the arches with out any problems of catching. (esspecially the front)! So. My question is.....

What is the widest size wheels I can use?
I am looking to use 13"
what is the inset / off set?
I am using standard Imp hubs

Thanks in advance

10x13 rear 8x13 front with race tyres as road tyres will hit the front tubs in a big way on lock you could ask Colin on here as he runs this set up :)

if you are using road tyres see what is available before you by the rims very wide tyres on a road going imp will be horrible it will wander on anything but a very smooth surface

AFAIK, the widest 13" road tyre available is the 205/60R13: fairly wide, but still a little stretched on an 8" wide wheel, and is very tall so is likely to rub everywhere. You can get wider and lower-profile road-legal trackday tyres, but they are upwards of £120/corner + fitting and balancing.

Camskill is a good place to do research into available tyre sizes:

Thanks guys. The tyres are not an issue. What I was trying to fond out was tge ofset and inset sizes of the wheels. So when they are on the car. They will fill the arches without catchin. Esspecialy at the front
