Andy - check the timetable - our race is before lunch - if you are in the restaurant, you'll miss it

Capacity grid with 6 reserves, including 11 Imps, the most that have been on 1 grid since I've been racing. Should be great.

Only 1 Imp feels the need for an extra practice session on Saturday, must be afraid of being beaten :o

Should be great - perhaps we can get all 11 race Imps together for a photo opportunity after the race?

My Dad (a local) likes to be over near Knickerbrook - from here you can see the cars down cascades and heading off to Island, then returning over Hilltop, down to the Knickerbrook chicane and off up Clay Hill. We are the second race at 12.05, so get there early! There is also a small circuit entrance round the back somewhere which he favours - a lot less busy at going home time.

See you there - Simon

Great stuff James - some good results from your experiments.

A big 'well done' for David Heale who finished a fantastic 3rd overall after a fantastic start from 9th on the grid in a very wet race.

I also had a really enjoyable race and after passing a couple of Mustangs to get into 4th, I decided that it had been so much fun passing them that I would go too fast into Druids and drive round the grass a bit so that they could re-pass me and then have another go at them

Got by at Lodge the second time to finish 5th overall - very challenging conditions but still a lot of fun!

We ended up with 8 Imps racing and all finished. Sadly, Andy's clutch release bearing failed in practice and Jon Orr had an oil leak and wasn't able to qualify.

Adrian was 14th, Ian Gunton 18th, Shaun 23rd, Vince 27th ahead of Stuart Kerr and Nick Lunn with another finish, though seemingly a bit down on power, perhaps.

Alex, Thanks for posting the pics, take it they were from saturday morning testing as there is only me and stuart out.
Today was a superb day for the hillmans , David Heale was in second place at the start (overall) and came in 3rd after a 20 minute swim round Oulton park, closely followed by Simon Benoy who came in 5th overall. I have to say it makes me so happy to watch all the imps race, the interest by the public and other drivers is growing all the time I dont think they can quite believe there eyes when they see two 998 imps in the top 5 of a 36 car grid made up of lotus cortinas, minis, mustangs etc.
I went to oulton early saturday to do the 2 untimed test sessions, i thought i would give the car a good shake down ready for mondays race, i had probably built it all up a bit to much in my head which is why it feels so bad now ha ha  Anyway the test went relatively smoothly, the new side exit exhaust has the added benefit of helping me shed some puppy fat, by cooking me! well my theory was that this heat would normally be sucked in by the engine, and that cant be good for power so am going to have to refine the air flow through the cab.
Saturday night was good thanks to steve platts firing the bbq up and meeting new imp racer Stuart kerr, followed by beer in the chequered flag.
Sunday was red hot so fiddled with car and talked to public about there imp related memories ( mostly breakdown stories but generally fond) Evening BBQ put on by the HTC proved very popular, nice to catch up with all the imp racers shame i had to drink orange juice!
This morning the weather looked gloomy, went out for practice at 9.05am still half a sleep but the car did feel good until the clutch started feeling lumpy. 3 laps in and i had to retire, i quickly pulled the engine out only to find the release bearing had failed, with only 2 hours before the race and the spare bearing at home 45mins away it was going to be tight !
Despite best efforts by the hillman people we did not make the race, special thanks to Aled and James who both threw themselves at the wet tarmac to get stuck in.
With nothing left to do other than sulk i went to watch the race from the inside of cascades, the highlight of the race for me was watching mr Benoy go round the outside of a red mustang through the shikane, the whole bank of people cheered for the imp as he bullied its way round the yank tank.
Brands Indy next, will have to get my act together !

Well done indeed to the front-running Imps!
The race was most enjoyable for me despite the distinct lack of power (better than Brands Hatch but still not on song). I had a fab start making up about 5 places before the first corner, only to lose two or three by Cascades. I then spent a few laps keeping a lotus Cortina at bay - he was easily catching me on the straights but lost all his time in the corners on a wet track - eventually I fluffed my exit from Lodge and he got alongside by Old Hall closely followed by Vince Frost. Had a couple more entertaining battles before the leaders caught me on the penultimate lap.
All in all great fun, started 34th finished 29th. Big thanks go to Steve Platts for helping fettle things, hope your skin grows back after diagnosing a red hot coil (that's two Lumenition coils faulty this year).
Do me a deal? Employ me for 3 days and pay me for what I'm currently being paid for 5, then I'll have time to do everything!

My first attendance to a race day in more than 25 years. My wife had never been before. Now she wants to be at the last two events. (all part of my master plan) We felt so sorry for Andy, but it was fantastic seeing all the other Imps do so well, especially the top two. Well done to you all. I was actually cheering and jumping up and down at the chicane! A great day out. Well done to all the Impers.
Thanks to Bob also. Saved me the postage on some spares.

Glad you and your wife enjoyed the entertainment, in spite of the rain. There seemed to be a lot of Imp Club members present...

Great weekend at Oulton Park, thanks to everyone for there support and encouragement - especially Andy, David and Steve. I was a little disappointed with qualifying, no excuse - just the driver not pushing the car hard enough, mostly in the wrong gear... better in the race, but had problems with selecting 2nd gear - need to adjust the new solid gear linkage! My tow back to park ferme at the end of the race was down to a lose HT lead i think... was the only thing i touched to get the car to fire again.. Happy with the result and times after a disappointing qualifying (well not happy, maybe happier still a long way to go :-)). Though, it was my 1st standing start and 1st wet race.. looking forward to Brands Hatch... thanks again to everyone...

Marcus Pye - had a beer at Castle Combe a few years back with him, Tony Sinclair, Owen Jones and the Jade lads. He bought a round, wouldn't have one back, great raconteur, no pretensions, knowledgeable guy.

A very enjoyable day I recall.

Please do, I've been informed about the awesome overtake at Knickerbrook/Foggys (is it just called Foggys for bike racing?!?).

Yep, that's Druids - always slippery there. I knew that - I checked on the green flag lap, but I still threw it off as soon as I was clear of the Mustangs!
