Having watched the vids I'll be there tomorrow to spectate. Are members of the public allowed in the paddock? (Ages since I've been to Brands, they used to be allowed in).

For the quality and standard of races on offer the entry price cannot be deemed expensive. Yes the HFO are missing but the series that are there are high quality and include FIA Historic series. On Sunday there are 8 races along with 5 qualifying sessions and I believe an F! car giving demonstration laps. Where else would get a full days entertainment for £21?

For the record I have been at meetings on the continent as support for HFO and as far as I'm concerned they are greatly over rated.

Time to drag yourselves into the 21st century and realise that entertainment costs money.

Pete Richards

p.s. Worth remembering that in order to provide you with cheap entertainment the drivers of the cars are paying a considerable amount in entry fees to provide it.

Glad to hear that there will be some Impers in the crowd.

Grahame - the paddock is open to all so come down between races for a chat.

I think there are actually 9 races tomorrow so should be an action packed day.

Cheers - Simon

By the time I've factored in fuel, the Dartford crossing and refreshments it becomes a comparatively expensive day for me: especially as entry to Silverstone was just £10 for a whole day of racing. I'm not saying Brands is hugely expensive, just that being over twice the price of Silverstone is a bit hard to understand, and having just agreed to buy a new engine it's not something I can justify at the moment :( .

Good luck to all the Impers tomorrow :D

Driving to Wales on saturday morning, I saw coming the other way on the M4 a dark blue Imp being towed, quick flash by and it looked like it had wide over fenders, low offset wheels, cage etc... Anyone on here?

Also a few times heading up north I've seen a blue/white one on the back of a truck. :D

Will have to come along and watch some races once mine is running.

You can clearly see the speed in Simon's car!

New engine spec must be working. 8)

I like the bit in vid where the leading Cortinas show-off with a bit ofJim Clark-style three wheel cornering shortly followed by Simon on three as if to say "Imps can do that too!". :)

Brands Hatch Superprix 1st July.

Post by Nigel Webster (anrw) »

Simon's car has a really stiff shell (I imagine partly thanks to the body prep by Mike Hanna and his rallying experience) and he appeared to lift that inside wheel on all the occasions we watched him at Paddock Hill and Surtees, in the two parts of the race, and practice. I took lots of photographs but I'm a useless photographer (or perhaps I should blame 'the tools') and all pictures of his car seams to focus of the safety fence!

Incidentally following recent posts on the subject of spectator entry costs I felt Brands Hatch offered good value. Having not been to Brands since the late 60's I found the facilities were unexpectedly good and for the £21, one had circuit entry, car parking (wherever you wanted except the paddock), paddock entry, pits and formation area entry in fact no officious marshals attempting to stop you wherever one wanted to go. Added to this, catering was of a good standard and fairly priced and the smartest and cleanest loos I have been to in any outdoor event. Pity the events that we do can't boast the same standard of facilities!

On the whole, yes. The food at Silverstone has recently had a price hike though... £4 for a sandwich that would cost maybe £1 at the supermarket just ten minutes down the road.

Just to clarify, my issue isn't that Brands is/was expensive or poor value for money, it's that I cannot see the justification in them charging twice the price for entry that Silverstone does. I actually prefer to spectate at Brands. :)

It's quite simple the event at Brands was an International event and as such costs are more. Also I think that you should just be happy that Silverstone was so cheap. It's the same for the competitors, we may prefer one circuit but due to costs we we cannot always afford it and race elsewhere where it is cheaper.

As I said earlier I am a lousy photographer but I do have some shots residing on a Picassa web album. You are welcome to look at them but I am too embarrassed to publish them here. I have your work e-mail address to send you an invite to view the album - is this suitable?

Information have now reached the continent (yes, we are far away)
Result from Brands Hatch By Box shows Imp drivers in 6 and 7 place after big cars and in front of even more big cars. That is remarkable!

I might (to spectate I hasten to add!), and I should really because it's less than 15 miles up the road from where I live.

For some unfathomable reason the idea of this year's National isn't floating my boat so I might stay at home and just go to Croft.

Having said that I still owe a few people outstanding pints for past favours so maybe should go to the National, unless they can wait til next year (anyone know the location of the 2013 National?).

I bought one too. Good value but mine quickly developed a battery problem (soldered-in type). The battery would conk-out and the camera would switch itself off after a couple of minutes on battery. Completely sovled the problem for in-car recording by plugging the camera into a USB to cigar lighter socket adapter (cheap to buy). The camera now runs to the maximum of the card memory before switching off.

Bit of a change of thread, i went testing hillman yesterday at Oulton park (track day) with my £120 flipshare camera off amazon. I have had this camera for over a year and rate it for sound an picture quality. It has 2 hours of recording time with ample battery time to match, it has its own usb connection so very easy to upload.
On saturday i was testing my new sump (standard imp) and new simplified breather system. if you would like to watch the hillman been driver round oulton park search "Oulton park Javelin track day 8.12.12 or search my user mame the hillmanator and look for the latest video. apologies for the crunched gears i am trying to learn how to toe and heale, because Mike Hanna told me i am cuel on my dogs :(
