Nope, apparently there were several "mistakes" in the original very brief listing description...so it's just a 4 speed. :P

I wonder if there are any other, more serious, "mistakes" to be found by the new owner? :o

I hope he went to view before bidding... :|

Big cost difference between 5 speed dog box and 4 speed close ratio box but "if" engine is top spec then probably well bought.

However, not sure of cage specs for race cars currently but diameter looked small in the photos.

Not long ago I saw a JK 5 speed WITH reverse, uses a separate lever/shaft...just make sure it's in neutral beforehand
Do me a deal? Employ me for 3 days and pay me for what I'm currently being paid for 5, then I'll have time to do everything!

nick a 5 speed box wont stay in reverse you have to hold it in as you go back and as soon as you let it go if falls back into neutral

For those of you not familiar with the reverse on a JK 5 speed, the reverse selector position on a standard transaxle is used to engage the first of the five forward gears. This means that you need to use a new shaft through the end casing to move the reverse idler into mesh with the reverse pinion and gear itself. The JK design has the idler mounted on a spring loaded shaft that pulls the idler into mesh from behind the gears as opposed to the opposite movement in any other transaxle. Due to the restricted space behind the reverse gears, the idler must be machined thinner (and is therefore more fragile) and the reverse gear and pinion have their teeth chamfered on the other side as well to aid engagement.

As the selector is seperate from the main selector shaft controlling the five forward gears, the box must be in neutral before pulling the reverse gear into engagement otherwise you will probably be reaching for your handkerchief and wallet....... :?

For anyone who is seriously interested, I have a five speed for sale (choice of ratios and build spec) :D

PM me.
