Buncombe Chevron Imp

Saw a magazine dated January 1976 last night at a Car club meeting, mentioned an Imp - hopefully the photo is the correct car:

Also, a nice advert from the same mag:

I have to say, the 1966 Imp that was in good condition for £100 sounded mighty tempting - I think the 1971 VW Camper in great condition for £750 was the best offer though!

Chris,
Good little find that! I was interested when i saw the name 'Buncombe'. On Twitter i follow Chris Buncombe who is a race driver (aston martin lemans) but is well known for being Jenson Button's Training partner. i tweeted him asking if it was any relation of his, he has just got back to me and it is his dad!
I thought that was an interesting but to add on to the story so thought i would share with you!

Interesting little extra info!

When I saw the magazine I did a quick forum search for Buncombe and didn't get anything. Thought it best to get the camera out and add a bit of extra Imp history to the site.

It's a shame that the car doesnt exisit in this form anymore,it was converted back to full on 'chevron' spec a number of years ago.
In its time it was probably the only car to give big Gerry Marshall and Baby Bertha a run for their money

Th chimp went out and destroyed everything and then got banned. guy down south still has the moulds. It was a bigger bodied car than the imp though but looked like the imp :)
