Would be nice to see Roland's family name spelt correctly, too. :(

Roland was ace in the Demon Tweeks BMW M3 in the BTCC.

It was a terrible, terrible weekend.

In a different branch of motorsport, it's 25 years since we lost Henri Toivonen this weekend. :(

Senna's Williams is still in Italian security's hands to this day...

So many fantastic drivers have been lost over the years. I still remember where I was when I heard the news about Ayrton. I was never a devotee of any one driver but he did seem to mean so much to motor sport. Roland seemed like a stand-up kinda guy and was much mourned too, as I remember. And I was reading about Toivonen just the other day - yet another great loss.

By accounts, the Italian authorities are not unknown to take 25 years to investigate fatalities of this type and significance. It makes you wonder how. I mean, how it can take so long and how they can still find evidence and people to interview so long after the fact. :!:

A small (but significant) error on my part. Now edited in the title. The thought was there though ........

p.s Should I also put Senna da Silva ? Yes...of course.

I KNOW a chap who works for Williams Grand Prix Enginering over in Grove and he tells me the FW16 chassis was destroyed around three years ago ! The Renault engine still on long term loan under goodwill is used to demo the chassis used by Damon Hill and was last used at goodwood festival a few years ago !
:(
He was by far my Gp hero !

The official line is that it was incinerated along with the helmet in 2002, although I have heard a few times that it was being kept in a secret location.

Oh I believe it is gone, I think Williams destroyed it as soon as they could, personally I think that it would be crazy to keep the car around - although the authorities would have been all over every inch, say that 1.4 seconds of video that "doesn't exist" happened to turn up one day, Frank and Patrick would certainly want the evidence to be gone.
