Craig DOLBY Ford Lotus Cortina 10:00.811 overall winner
after Lotus Cortina's and a Alfa-Romeo
Andy JONES Singer Chamois 10:15.047 5:th

That appears quite good in my mind, at least.

(Another fellow I often see on race reports is Steve Platts but he is not on this forum??)

There are a heat no.2, right?

I believe David lost his diff in race one on the start line and Jonsey did a donut also on the line I think? luckily both of them didnt recieve any real damage, start line accidents can be nasty but neither of them were clouted.

Still shaping up to be a good season, lots of very quick imps out there.

I don't know what Simon does but I have heard of drivers giving it 7k and dropping the clutch !!! :? I am way to tight / and or frightened to do that so normally feed power in from 5k !!! Maybe not great starts but less chance to break something ???

Well he stalled it in race 1 so I wouldnt get too pre-occupied with what Simon does

i've sidestepped the clutch at 6k in my clan 12 times in a day once with no ill effects, if you have a strengthened diff, good donuts and 1" shafts i'd have thought you would be fine to do that but i'll let someone who has raced an imp answer that one.

I haven't got the guts / bank balance / stock of spares (delete as you deem appropriate :? ) necessary to side step the clutch in mine at 5000 rpm... :(

Where did you get the water temp gauge from? looks huge and accurate, just right.

You did pass some in the back of the row suspiciously fast? Have they parked there waiting for the next heat? :D

Have seen that red/orange Anglia before. Annoying chap, isn't he? Always ahead.

Certainly took it by the scuff of the neck at that race, wrong line what wrong line if it works its right and it seemed to be working.

Andy takes the line i would take...I don't get this turn-in from out wide stance....that's the long way around, and leaves a shed load of space for someone else to take you on the inside of the corner!

If it handles properly and you have the feel for the limits, then go round the shortest route and turn-in to hit the apex as early as possible.

Mind you, I can't argue with any line you would take Scott...you're a brave, committed and very effective driver that's for sure!

from what i was told the oil filter came loose and some oil sprayed onto the exhaust manifold /heat rap and this was what caught fire, im pretty sure he shut the engine off when he realised oil pressure had gone, so not too sure on any damage but he ran in the second race a couple of hours later so it couldnt have been all that serious. well other than it being covered in extinguisher powder!!

I dont know any more than that.

His car wasn't so good after the second race, I think he might have done some damage to it and ignored it and raced anyway. good spirit

If i'd seen you there Luke i'd have said hello, i'm in at least one of the photos so we can't have been too far away from crossing paths.

From a spectator point of view they have improved it, the raised viewing points are good for seeing a lot more of the circuit and it looks as if they have given plenty of chances for overtaking and from what I hear its now far less of a power track so that can only be a good thing.

I did hear a lot of "crunch" from the gearbox. Non-syncro noice?

Practice is on the Friday and race Saturday, so having 2 days off for 1 race is a bit much, I did Anglesey instead 3 races over 2 days. :-)

Sean Hazlewood blew his engine in practice. Colin Gunton blew his engine at the end of the first lap of the 1st race just before the start finish line. Check out the video here on U-Tube quite impressive to look at but not so good on the wallet!!!!!!!!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B9ld8m0-bPE

Ian Gunton said his engine was overheating in the first race, pulled off to save the engine and did not compete in the 2nd race.

Meanwhile I finished first in class for both races, 9th in race 1 and in 7th in race 2. David Heale was 13th in race 1 and 8th in race 2.

Regards Steve
